I know im one of the few that liked Hell on Earth or Murda Muzik more then this. I felt like this album was almost a little boring, so when i listen to it I play 5 songs at a time rather then the whole album. This is a hardcore album, cant deny that. Eye for a eye is a really dope track, Nas and Raekwon lay it down on this track. Shook Ones and Survival of the fittest are classic hip hop singles and are the reason i picked this album up. Up north trip is really dope same as trife life. If you love the east coast sound you should have this album in your collection but i wouldnt call this album one of the best from the east. Pick up some black moon or kool g rap first then check this album

Outkast with a K... Some real good music on here, some classic stuff...so fresh, so clean with all the dirty south hits like gasoline and B.O.B...Humble as a Mumble in the jungles of shouts and screams.... that's the way erika sang it so I guess I've got to reroute my dreams...some b-real on the Xplosion of dirty beat that just makes you want to get some more outkast...

What can I say about this classic? It's, without a doubt in my mind, one of the greatest albums to ever come out, not just in Rap, but in music, period. Don't let the singles, such as Ruff Ryders' Anthem and Get At Me Dog fool you...not to say that those aren't good songs, just that the rest of the tracks on this album differ from those, greatly.
DMX was a unique and abstruse individual back then, just take a look at the pictures of him made for this album...he has streaks and trails of what would appear to be dirt and soil covering his body...as if he arose from the grave. In the album booklet were pictures of him dressed in bummy attire, in run-down abandoned places, looking miserly. This was in full opposition to the images portrayed by most of ... Read More:

Well, Nas is arguabley the best rapper alive. Of course everyone has their own opinion and before i get jumped on for calling him the best rapper alive, let me restate that, HE IS A LEGEND. But im not gonna lie, this album was a let down. With a name like Hip Hop Is Dead, you kinda expect a little more. You expect Nas to save hip hop with this album. But he didnt really do a whole lot to save it. I mean, i dont want to understate this album, because its definetly not bad, but its also definetly not Illmatic or even God's Son. But its still alot better than alot of the other crap being put out right now. But as far as Nas goes, i definetly do expect better. He still has his game tight as far as i can tell, his swagger is still intact and firey as ever. The only real problem ... Read More:

This album BLEW ME AWAY when I first heard it! I'll never forget my reaction(s) to each track. An album like this comes along once every 20 years. From beginning to end, we witness a hip hop master at work.
Mos Def is Mos Due for another spectacular album...possibly another album with Blackstar....because, well, Talib Kweli is outnumbering him in top tier hip hop albums to this point. That being said, no collection is complete unless Black on Both Sides is dusted monthly in your respective CD player.

I would like to first state that you should not be thrown off by the 3 stars. I have been a fan of The Game since 2004 back when i was into gangster rap. Now in 2008 i listen to a completely different type of music and no long listen to the old artists that i once loved, that is except for Game. I am no longer a fan of the west coast like i was but for some reason i have always enjoyed Games albums. Now lots of people love the production on this album but i dont think its as impressive as they say, its good but it didnt blow me away. Also lyrically game is average, so why do i continue to listen to game? he just makes good songs, his flow and style make up for what he lacks in the lyrics department. Anyways i love this album even though i could only give it a 3 star rating. Listen ... Read More:

Whitey can make me have goosebumps--the things he says. If you listen to what he is really saying, it is pretty deep. I love this album. I have had this album for years and the CD has just recently worn out and now I'm buying a new one. This is one CD I can't live without. As a woman especially, I feel he can be sensitive and raw, and tells how men can really feel about women, life, and the world in general. He is so diverse and unique. Two thumbs way up.
