I remember this album when I was in the 8th grade. This record is soulful and modern. With this album, she has defiened the highest creative potential of music. She fuses the jazz, R&B and hip-hop influences of a lifetime, not only with her voice, but with many talents. Deeply spiritual and rhythmically banging, uplifting yet grounded, sensitive and sensual, it is one more example of the multi-faceted expression we fans value in her. This album reflects a "re-invention" in the calculatedly self-consicous, marketing-driven sense that Hollywood might use the term but quite simply, growth, evolution, and learning. This album has been certified Platinum. Remember, this was 2000.

Man I can't believe it took so a long time to buy this classic album! Cypress Hill are by far one of the best Latino rap groups to walk the face of the earth. This stuff was hot as ever back in the day, and nearly 15 years later people still ride to it. This album gives a good look at the Latino and Hispanic/gangsta lifestyle. Here's my track guide:
1. I Wanna Get H*gh / 10/10, this is real dope material that isn't made anymore! The horn at the beginning is simply entrancing.
2. I Ain't Goin' Out Like That / 8/10, this is a pretty cool rap, it's catchy and has smart lyrics. Cypress have got to be geniuses if sample the lengendary Black Sabbath
3. Insane In The Brain / 10/10, legendary material that make you want to get ... Read More:

God damn it, it's just beyond my belief as to how someone who can drop a straight classic from top to bottom like this here, can then later became so terrible. Okay, so comparing everything else his done to this might be a bit harsh but he changed his style completely after Deathrow Records. Its one hell of a shame considering how talented he can be, proven by albums like this.
There is seriously, absolutely no disappointments on this album to speak of. Every track, even the ones that don't seem to have much Snoop at all are "at least" excellent by my book. The production, could actually be even better than the Chronic, nuff said there. Snoop brings to the table, his incredibly unique rapping style, with his amazingly laid-back flow/delivery which ... Just go get the damn CD! If you think Trap Muzik was hot, man wait till you hear this album. It's worthy of an album of the year award (circa 2004). Like I said, go get the damn CD!!

You probally wouldn't expect much from The Beastie Boys after releasing Paul's Boutique. After all, it pretty much was a king of sampling, and there's no real way to top that album, especially since sampling wasn't going too well after the album being released. So instead of panicking, The Beastie Boys decided to employ their own beats more, and add some of their early rock influence, and live funk courtesy of keyboards.
It works, extremely well. Whether Mike D (that's my guess, since he usually played drums) or a sample was backing the beat, I can't help but feel this may be the most organic rap album as far as beats, always heavy, funky, great. Oh, and there's the percussion too. They still sample, but it's not very dominated with samples ... Read More:

As a collective whole, Mary J Blige's "My Life" is incomplete. Why then give this album 5 stars? Because the good overweighs the bad. There are enough songs on this cd to satisfy your Mary J Blige fix. Even though Mary herself claims she was in her "addiction" at the time of this recording, it still showcases brilliance in the r and b music world. In a perfect world, Mary J Blige's "My Life" would be:
1. Mary Jane
2. U Bring Me Joy
3. I"m The Only Woman
4. My Life
5. I Never Wanna Live Without u
6. I'm Goin' Down
7. Be Happy
(M' faves!)
Forget the rest. I'm sorry to say that, but for the anal r and b fan, the rest of the songs on this cd sound dated and just don't do the trick for me. "Be With U" is beyond ... Read More:

This is a solid debut album for TI. Most tracks are listenable, but only a couple are true classics. TI's flow on this album is much more rapid fire - and with this albums lackluster sales, he switched up to his slower draaawl flow - which has got him the big sales.
The best track - esp if you are a true Southern Rap fan - is track 8 "Do It." DJ Toomp has always produced TI's best songs, and this is the one track that I can listen to over and over again.
