"Flee-Flu" includes an appearance by Peter Lorre as head of a sanatarium. "Laugh, Laugh, Laugh" is an enjoyable combination of music and jokes. And, of course, there's the full 7 minute version of "Who's on First?" which is A and C's best known routine. A very enjoyable set of comedy pieces culled from radio that is only slightly marred by imperfections in the quality of the original recordings (especially during "Who's on First?"). Merry Christmas: Golden Age of RadioCD-Charts > Music > Radio Shows by: Various Artists Release Date August 01, 1996 While this CD presents a decent sampling of various holiday radio broadcasts from the years 1946-54, almost none of the shows presented are complete episodes. The sole exception here is the Mel Blanc Show, which came as a revelation to me since until now I never even knew Mel Blanc had his own radio show. As expected, Blanc does most of the characters' voices, many of whom were "borrowed" from his Looney Tunes lineup (there's an ersatz Porky Pig, a Yosemite Sam sound-alike, et al). If you're a Blanc fanatic you should pick up this CD for this reason alone. The other episodes are amusing as well, but again, I would have preferred a CD with complete radio broadcasts as opposed to mere "highlights". Complete ... Read More: |
