I recently purchased the CD Brining Back the Funk and am very pleased with it. The music is great and very orginal. The CD has met my expectations as well as the service that I recieved when I purchased the CD. Would recommend.

After hearing the sad news that Isaac Hayes had passes away yesterday I decided to pay tribute to the man that re-wrote the rules for popular music by writing a review of his classic soundtrack to the blaxploitation flick "Shaft" from 1971 with Richard Roundtree in the lead. When people talk about blax flicks they talk about Shaft and when they talk about Shaft they talk about Hayes. But in order to understand Hayes legacy we need to go back to 1969 when he released his groundbreaking album Hot Buttered Soul. An album that only included 4 songs and 4 songs much longer then the average radio time of 3 minutes at the time, Infact the shortest song clocked at 5 minutes and the longest at 18!. 3/4 of those songs were also covers but unrecognizable to it's ... What a bummer of a CD. There isnt anything over the top, or memorable about the songs on this release. Why wasn't "I got your love" included on this release? "I'm a fire" is way too long, and "Stamp your feet" only makes you want to stamp your feet in disgust. Skip this one.

Wow. I should have carefully read the reviews. There are some tracks on here that spark memories of the movie (purpose of a soundtrack, perhaps?). There are tracks that seem to be missing. The tracks that are here are... out of order? What gives with that? Didn't the producer of this product watch the movie? Do the studios have any idea why we don't care to support their RIAA blunders, or their 'product'.

This is a lousy excuse for a soundtrack. It offers precious little to 'add' to the film experience. And I'll be sure to avoid a Warner Brothers / Atlantic Records collaboration in the future. How disappointing.

Now That's What I Call Music Vol. 27

The last "Now" CD I bought was Now 6. This is the only one really that interested me since then, and I like most of the songs on it.
If you listen to Top-40 radio, and don't want to buy Britney Spears' new album, but like "Piece of Me," for example, it's good.

But if you've already bought Alicia Keys and Sara Bareillis, it's not that worthwhile.
Overall, though, it's a great album with lots of fun hits.

The man who taught me my way around a mixing board used Barry White's "Let the music Play" for his theme song. On the wonderfully inventive comedy Ally McBeal, Barry White music was a central theme. In one of the offices I work in regularly this album is in heavy rotation for mellow background music.

But let's face it, music that can make a man the size of the late Mr. White into a sex symbol, is the kind of music that can get your sweetheart in the mood for love. This album has most of the hits by Mr. White that you might hope for as well as a wonderful cover of Billy Joel's "Just the Way You Are"

So here's the deal, if you are in the market for some "mood" music, you can't go wrong with this CD!
