This version of "Look of Love" is the best version i've heard still today. Ike layed it down with his 11 minute plus version of this classic cut. His orchestra is so tight nitched. "Runnin' out of Fools" is also the jam on this cd as well.

Prior to purchasing this CD I already had hopes that Jaheim was part of a trend away from Hip Hop and Rap and back to R&B. The Making of a Man confirms my hopes. As a person of 60 years old I found the music very disturbing in the beginning, but to make his point it had to be. As the songs progress one can hear the evolution of a thug to a man of principle. Brilliant..one of the best concept albums since Happy People. I pray that he continues to lead our youth back to real music...

Great jazz album from the '60s. This one belongs high up in the pantheon of jazz albums that include Miles Davis's Kind of Blue, John Coltrane's Blue Train, and Speak No Evil by Wayne Shorter. If you feel that these other albums are essiential jazz listening, then you will certainly enjoy 'Maiden Voyage' by Herbie Hancock, and you will see why people still rave about this album today.
If you are an experienced jazz fan then you will most definately already have an opinion on this album, but if you are just getting into jazz then this album should certainly be on your 'to buy' list. Firm five stars from me!

The 2nd album from A Tribe Called Quest, The Low End Theory is definitely their best album as well one of the greatest albums to come from the East Coast. One of the reasons for that is this album combindes both hip hop and jazz perfectly, especially since jazz bassist Ron Carter is featured on here. Another reason why its a classic album is because of the lyrical ability of Q Tip and Phife Dawg. Phife especially showcases his skils as an mc. The subject matter is also more serious than their debut. On The Low End Theory, ATCQ touches on sexual politices ("Infamous Date Rape"), violence in hip hop ("Vibes and Stuff"), and the music industry ('Rap Promoter" and "Show Business"). It also features the classic posse cut "Scenario", which is repsonsible ... Read More:

I love Sly's innovative style, but I think you really need to be a true fan to enjoy some of his lesser known cuts on this Cd
Release Date October 22, 1996
"12 Dreams" is the original Spirit's great swan song. Recorded just before fracturing into Jo-Jo Gunne and a depleted Spirit, the band was peaking (literally) during the making of this psychedelic classic. If you can get the vinyl, do so, as that mix features a better balance of sounds than the CD. However, the CD features a more playful Hendrix-like swirl of stereo effects than the original, so depending what state of mind you're in you might like that.

I bought this cd because I kept hearing Corinne Bailey Rae sing Free on my local jazz station and loved it! I discovered her and Marcus Miller while trying to find this song. I like them both alot, now! This cd is really great! Very upbeat and gets me going, and would be great at a party!

Finally for the fans of Incubus the wait is over. Ever since their last release of A Crow Lift of the Murder fans of the band have been "on-hold". On their sixth album "Light Grenades" Incubus doesn't disappoint. yet doesn't go above & beyond it's past releases. The song material is good, yet some lyrical content was slight disappointing.
Brendan O'Brien produces this album who has done previous albums and overall the production is good, yet some songs sound too compressed and over-produced. It lacks the fierce emotion in the vocals of singer Brandon Boyd that I loved in past Incubus releases. Songs on this album include "Quicksand", "Anna Molly", "Love Hurts" and the title track of "Light Grenades".

It is Irma Thomas, after all. She is fabulous. Anything by her has to be appreciated for the gem it is. True Americana. Blues as it should be interpreted.
