When I first heard a few snippets I was immediately struck by the precision, the soulfulness, the voice. A full listen confirmed those impressions. While reminiscent of some of the greats, and obviously inspired by them (Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, others most of us may not have even heard of), Paperboy Reid & the True Loves sound like themselves. The sound is clearer and cleaner than 60s recordings, though faithful to the instrumentation and approach of classic soul of its ilk, and Reid has a voice that has its own soul and its own sound. the Queen suprises a lot of folks with this cd composed of all singing. With a jazzy, R&B feel to it. It takes you on a trip and doesnt bring you back until the last song is over with. Its very soothing, comforting and her voice is strong when needed and subtle yet passionate on other tracks. But throughout the Dana Owens album there is one thing for sure that not only can she rap. But she can also sing as well, it doesnt feel like a gimmick or something forced. Its a natural progression and i love it. I do hope that she does another rap album in the future, but for now. I'm very happy with this effort.

I had listened to a few Christian artists in the past like Michael W. Smith, but had never really gotten into Christian until I heard Fransesca. Her vocals arent overglamourized, her music strikes a chord with me, especially her songs "forever" and "free to be me". Now Im getting into Natalie Grant, Third Day and the rest. Her CD cover has a great color scheme, she and her crew really seem to know what they are doing. I wish she had been on the scene earlier, or I had heard of her earlier, she's definitely 5 stars.

I bought this cd because I kept hearing Corinne Bailey Rae sing Free on my local jazz station and loved it! I discovered her and Marcus Miller while trying to find this song. I like them both alot, now! This cd is really great! Very upbeat and gets me going, and would be great at a party!

this is an amazing concert- yes, she is trouble, but oh so talented. I saw this concert on Lufthansa in first class on my last month trip and loved it- even at 51 years old, I still like this music genre and I hope she cleans her act up and releases many more great CDs

She's gone. This song got worn out by commercial radio in the late 70's. It sort of faded away from the radio. There was a time that I said "if I hear this f#@$ing song one more time"... Now it seems to have a new meaning or new life to me. Daryl Hall has one of music's most distinctive and soulful voices. When he hits those high notes, it still gives me goose bumps.

No Guru, No Method, No Teacher is probably Van's best effort of the 1980's and easily his best album since 'Into the Music' in 1979. As far as the bonus tracks go, "Lonely at the Top" is a great song and would have fit on the album nicely. The alternative version of "Oh the Warm Feeling" is nice, though hardly essential. This is a personal favorite of mine and one of Van's greatest triumphs. A must have!!!
