I love the darker, murkier side of Dr. John like Walk on Guilded Splinters and Gris Gris Woman, so there are several songs that aren't to my taste, but it is a great cd and worth the money.

This is not "Bless Its Pointed Little Head," but I am so happy I purchased it. The recording is a mixed blessing - some songs are first rate an inspired and Jorma and Jack soar - inspired by their Hot Tuna collaboration. Very interesting to hear "Uncle Sam Blues (Live)" having owned it for years on the Hot Tuna live recording. The Other Side Of This Life (Live) is the best performance on the record and "Volunteers" and "Good Shepherd" are also solid. You Wear Your Dresses Too Short (Live) has vapid lyrics (what was Marty thinking), but there is a moment of frenzied perfection in it, so I will not delete it from my iPod. Four and a quarter stars. School of Rock album, honestly.

I have the first two Moody Blues albums in the new 2008 remastered format so far. "In Search Of The Lost Chord" is the most psychedelic of all Moody releases. The new remaster sounds really crisp and clean. The drums sound especially good, compared to previous cd issues, on which they have a muddy sound. Ray's flute sounds brilliant with all the other exotic instruments on this album. There is a certain warmth that is missing on this re-issue. I have read about the use of a "quad" version for these remasters, but the 1997 remasters, to me, hardly beat the first cd issues of these classics from the beginning of the cd era. I always knew they could sound better. The only complaint I have at this point is that the 2008 remaster of "Days Of Future Passed" has ... Read More:

I was a little disappointed that "House of the Rising Sun" was omitted from the included tracks, since that was probably their biggest hit, but I guess that is my fault for not paying closer attention to the song list.
Other than that, I am satisfied, and was surpised at how fast I received the shipment.

Blood Sweat and Tears was the brainchild of Al Kooper who started as a session man early in the 60s movement. I bought Child is Father to Man when it first was released on vinyl and literally wore it out. At the time of it's debut it was unique as a concept with it's use of a horn section and combination of instrumentation. I remember Electric Flag appearing at the same time, but I was immersed in this album. I had only heard of Kooper from his "Super Session" with Stills and Bloomfield which I also had loved so I picked up Child. Kooper had a unique honest voice and had created arrangements with this music which constituted a departure and much needed rest from what was becomming the heavy and sometimes dark feeling of the 60's. I remember always feeling like this ... Read More:

Having recently heard P.T.(thanks to Pandora)I discovered to my delight that there is a vast and credible Progressive movement in existance.Yes and Pink Floyd could/should have taken their music in this direction instead of selling out to the pop genre. This is an excellant CD for anyone who has not heard P.T. before. Progressive rock is still alive and todays artists rival the great ones that started it all back in the day.

What can I say? This was already a great album in the 70's. But now with three added tracks which are better than the rest of the original album its Terrific. Plus the added tracks now make this the perfect disk for my commute to work. I hate to buy disks that I already own but if this one is a sign i need to recollect my favorite Dead disks. The JAZZ IS DEAD version of this album is also Very Very Good.

Paid [$] for 10 cd's which I consider "about average" - not really a great deal, but I thought if they were all re-done ("digitally re-mastered" is what I believe the infomercial stated), they would sound great.PROBLEM - From one song to the next, there is significant change in VOLUME; one song will be loud, the next you can barely hear, the next one loud again.
There are alot of great songs from this era that were not on the cd's & MANY filler songs I had never even heard of. Others were not by the original artists! Why waste the space?-
The T.V. ad is VERY misleading! From this entire collection, I only found 71 songs that I liked from the late 60s to early 70s. That means instead of spending [$](+tax +s/h) for the entire collection, I could have purchase my favorite songs, on ... Read More:

"There is nothing like a Grateful Dead concert"--album liner notes.
Most Deadheads I know prefer Live Dead shows over Studio Dead recordings. Europe '72 (1972) is a collection of classic Live Dead performances recorded during the band's tour of Western Europe in early 1972. (If you could only own one live Dead album, this is The One to own. It is not only the Dead's best-selling live album, it is one of their best-selling albums to date.) It is a landmark fusion of rock, folk, blues, bluegrass, country, and improvisational jam. Although it is considered a live album, many of the songs were subjected to later vocal overdubbing. This album represents Ron "Pigpen" McKernan's last tour with the Dead before he died from a stomach hemorrhage in 1973, and this was the last album featuring ... Read More:
