It is a pleasure listening to the music that meant so much to my circle of friends "back in the day".
Traffic was one of those bands that played a major supporting role in the days of Vietnam, demonstrations and turmoil.

It doesn't get any better than this for George Clinton. An absolute "must-have" album. Sir Nose demonstrates the great creativity of Clinton, while Flashlight has the ultimate bassline.

If you are a Byrd's fan - this CD collection is a MUST. The music brings me back to my college days - and this is a good representative of their musical styles.
Release Date September 25, 2007
I would've never thought that Devendra Banhart would go and record one of my all-time favorite albums / cd's. I originally bought Rejoicing In The Hands and didn't really care that much for it (I sold it), but Smokey Rolls Down Thunder Canyon is an entirely different matter. This one is a timeless beauty - a modern classic. I am never going to tire of these wonderful songs - I already know this for sure. Honorable mention goes to Seahorse, Bad Girl (my favorite song here) and Freely, which reminds me a little of the J.J. Cale classic Magnolia.
But all the songs are wonderful, each in their own way. Highly recommended!

Great singer, great selections, great recordings BUT many of the old songs are mono recordings. Wish I had read the fine print before buying...

This 2-CD set really rocks. No going out with a whimper. The Airplane finished their seven-year run in a blaze of glory. The great majority of tracks are from their last two studio albums, "Bark" (1971) and "Long John Silver" (1972).
I see that a number of reviewers here have knocked the concert for not having more of their songs from earlier albums. Well, at the time the band didn't know this would be the end (Jorma quit just days afterward to start recording "Quah"), and it was the grand conclusion of their tour to promote "Long John Silver," so what do you expect?
I am truly impressed at the material done here from that album. Songs that were lackluster in the studio recording - with a bad mix to boot - are performed with a riveting intensity. ... Read More:

Good indication of the period sound of this iteration of the band. More of the bluesy sound that they started with than on later live releases.

Evidently, the term "The worst of Jefferson airplane", was by itself, an additional signal of overt irreverence, expressed as a twist inside n expected order.
If we had to remark the two basic elements that featured, launched and even kept the whole attention over them, these would be on one hand, to make us realize the arrival of a new life through their messages and second, the creative mature easily carved in relief in their lyrics that, somehow, foresaw the next years to come as we may feel in "Volunteers", one of the most reminded emblematic songs in Woodstock Festival.
Despite all these factors, Jefferson wrought - with golden letters - a very distinguished place into a vertiginuous and surrealistic decade as the sixties was.

I Love Rock & Roll: Hits of the '60s, Vol. 2 has some pretty smart sounding rock tunes from the remarkable 1960s. The sound quality is very good and I like the different artists they put on this album. The artwork is also nicely done.
"All Day And All Of The Night" starts it off with The Kinks doing their usual great job on this hot song. The modulations between major and minor keys blow me away and the lyrics sure are cool! Jefferson Airplane's "Somebody To Love" has a great late `60s feel that always makes me smile when I hear it; and The Byrds do their awesome "Turn! Turn! Turn! (To Everything There Is A Season)." "Turn! Turn! Turn! (To Everything There Is A Season)" is an exquisite piece of music and The Byrds perform this flawlessly with guitars, percussion and some ... Read More:
