It is a well-put-together collection, so much so that I almost bought it...until I realized that I already had every song, in the same order, from another Collectables CD release - WCBS FM 101.1 25th Anniversary, Vol. 2: The 60's - Silver Anniversary Edition; this was a "limited edition" release previously put out in 1997...you may be able to get this older CD cheaper, and they are the same thing.
That only goes to attest to the popularity of the compilation, and the fact that WCBS 101.1FM originally chose the songs means something - they are a great oldies station in New York.

Syd went crazy somewhere in 1967, so they had to get rid of him, and doing so, got the immensly more talented David Gilmour on guitar. Good choice, guys. Their sound was never the same after that, but they still had a long way to go before Meddle and Dark Side. This is the beginning of what I call the "finding ourselves" phase. The band tried to make a better album than Piper, which is fine by me, but it only succeeds in a few tracks. Let There Be More Light has a really cool bassline (Wow, Roger can play), but it degenerates into a noodling pointless jam. I bought this Pink Floyd Oh By The Way set for around $173 from Amazon, in July of 2008. I have no problems with the set, as was mentioned in other reviews. The labeling for Ummagumma and The Wall are OK. All inserts are included. I did not know about the Japanese mini-sleeves released in 2001 before I made this purchase. Who knows whether those will ever be released again or how much they might cost? I notice in some photos that the box is blue-colored. Mine is brown. Was there a North American set and a UK version? Is this an Import? Overall, I am satisfied with my purchase.

What a fantastic catalogue of music these guys have created. To me this album is the smoothest and most polished of all their albums. Every track is good and they all blend in to each other to give this CD a real entity of its own. The songwriting, singing, arrangements all hit the right chord (sounds corny but their 'search for the lost chord' was over when this collection of songs came together. I think this album has a different feel to any of their others which makes this one fantastic and most of the others ranging from imaginative/creative to a bit bland on a couple of later efforts. One of the most enduring bands of all time with a very steady line-up for continuity. Classic album.

Live Yardbirds! Featuring Jimmy Page

This CD is indeed a Master Piece, I own the Original Pressing of the Album. It had been killed for release several times by Jimmy Page. Sure there some funky over dubs and such. But the this is the Real Deal!!! A young and hungry Jimmy, his playing is second to none on this. Right from Train Kept a Rolling on till I'am a man. The Yardbirds never sounded more heavy and bluesy, I would like to have seen him during this period. This is a must for any Led Zeppelin Fan or Yardbirds. If I was Jimmy Page I would be proud of this, it shows his guitar with amazing tone and power and the licks are as good or BETTER than anything done with Beck or Clapton. If only it would be released so every fan could purchase it.

to begin with I absolutely abhor all the so called commercial stuff they did. Meddel and Dark slight of the moon and beyond were all atrocious LPs and cds.
This one, and the zabrisky point soundtrack and atomheartmutha and oomagooma are good staff also obscurred by clothsis an okay album yes?

TYPICAL 1980'S CD BOXSET.

This was your typical 1980's boxset, when CD technology was first emerging. It contains about 60% previously released material, and 40% unreleased material (many of which should have never been released). Personally, I was not a fan of these releases, but I bought them anyway because the CD selections at the time were very limited.

Since this is an 1980's boxset, the sound quality is poor. Well, it isn't horrible, but it isn't very good. The sound is a little flat and muffled. It certainly, is not very good by today's CD standards.
