A brilliant album which takes the Dixie Chicks in a slightly new direction musically, appealing not just to Country fans but across the whole spectrum.
All the fans will have a copy already but for anybody new to the band I would just say don't hesitate-this is sensational!
"Not Ready To Make Nice", especially if you know the history,must be one of the most powerful and evocative anthems of the last 30 years, up there with the likes of "Bat Out Of Hell" and "Total Eclipse Of The Heart".
This album marks the Chicks' first serious attempt at songwriting. If they can maintain the standard of "Not Ready..." it would put them on the level of the legendary Jim Steinman.

This is my first introduction to Sara Bareilles and I love her CD.The songs that stand out for me are the pure,soulful sounds in 'Gravity' and 'In Your Eyes.' Some of the tracks get a little too poppy for me reminiscent of Michelle Branch. But this gal can certainly sing her heart out on those Fiona Apple-style,heart-wrenching songs. It is that alternative folk-meets-contemporary that reaches me...similar to another artist Arrica Rose in her album La La Lost who I also recommend highly for her soulful,sometimes poppy but powerful music.

By the time this collection was released in 1990, Madonna had already made about 90% of her most essential recordings, so there certainly are several great songs here. However, this collection is flawed in a couple of ways. Some of her most essential songs, such as "Holiday," "Borderline," "Like A Virgin," and "Like A Prayer" are all here, as they well should be. However, if you listen closely, you'll notice that many of the songs sound considerably different than they did on the LPs or cassettes that you had in the 80s. Don't buy this for the Chicago set. Its ok, but lacks the brilliant Peter Cetera vocals. Earth, Wind, and Fire is the reason to buy and listen to this. The music and vocals are great and sound the same as they did 30 years ago. Way of the World is beautiful and they play all the favorites. One of the best music DVD's I own strictly for EW&F.

Here is the Carly Simon we grew up with singing the songs she did best. Each one is a gem and well mixed for effective listening in today's market. Two Hot Girls on a Hot Summer Night never received the glory of You're So Vain, Mocking Bird, That's the Way I always Thought it Would Be, or Anticipation, but is a wonderful addition to this CD. Kudos!!! Carly fans, BUY IT!

Very good LP.
Each song seems to be a character, along with a great storyline.
Bocelli's vocals are perfection, as usual, and wrapped within the walls of the other instruments, this LP is a perfect thing.
It is NOT necessary to understand the lyrics, the delivery does more than speak to you: It creates a mood that reflects the very love that went into the creation of this LP.
Great job and money well spent.
This LP will effect you on a visceral level, it is pure mood.

Its been almost 5 years since Gavin Degraw's first cd "Chariot." I remember being blown away by Gavin Degraw when i first heard his album. Over these past five years I have found myself coming back to Chariot every so often and wondering to myself when I'd be lucky enough to hear some more Gavin. Here it is...

"In love with a girl", the first single off of Gavin Degraw is an alright song in my opinion, along the lines of "I don't wanna be" from his first album. However, once again his best work comes out in the remainder of the album. Songs like "Untamed", "Young Love", "Cop Stop", "She holds a key", and "We belong together" are all amazing. I learned about this CD from watching CBS Sunday Morning -- This woman's voice is soulful, smoth and silky -- just a dream to listen to. And her lyrics are just as strong. Buy this album -- you won't regret it. Great for any hour of day. It's 5:00 am as I write this and I'm enjoying the track "When I Fall" -- and I'm confident you will too (though you don't need to listen to it at 5 am!)
