I love how with every album Loreena McKennitt puts out, her album is the results of her travels all over the world. On her album THE BOOK OF SECRETS (which would be her last studio album for several years before AN ANCIENT MUSE), Loreena explores the history of the celts. When I listen to the cd, I feel like I am getting a history lesson in celtic history. I like that Loreena writes music that is never insulting or trite.Although the album version of "The Mummer's Dance" is a far cry from the radio version, it is nonetheless still a joy to listen to. The album version is longer and slower while the radio versoin is shorter and more upbeat. Me thinks radio wanted a version that would appeal to a broader audience. If that was the case it worked ... I am a casual fan of the duo. I started looking for a compilation of their greatest hits and came upon "The Very Best Of Daryl Hall & John Oates". I thought great. Then I started looking at the tracks for my all time favorite "She's Gone". It was no where to be found on this compiliation. What? Are you kidding me; no "She's Gone" on "The Very Best of Daryl and John Oates". That song is arguably their greatest hit. Omitting it from the collection is a major infraction. As such this compiliation is not worth two cents to me.

A really excellent collection of some of Joe Cocker's best works including the best cover song ever; "With a Little Help from Me Friends", and also the later "Unchain My Heart" another great power vocal from Joe. I only wish that they had included "Hitchcock Railway", a great early Cocker Rocker that was always one of my favorites. All in all though a great retrospective of the eclectic Joe Cocker!!

Jesse is simply awesome. Can't really get too much of him, but for some reason I can't stand track 13 Toca Orilla. Must be me. This is a 2cd set so one bad song out of 26 isn't bad hey?

Although this is a great 2-CD set, it is a bit inadequate.

This does contain most of Billy Joel's greatest hits. It is certainly full of great songs. There are some notable omissions: Scenes From An Italian Restaurant, Vienna, and Big Shot. There may be others, but those are some that should definitely be included in anything claiming to be 'The Essential Billy Joel'. Perhaps if one combines this set with his albums 'The Stranger' and '52nd Street' it would truly be the essentials.

Nevertheless, this is a great set and is probably adequate for most and certainly for any casual fan.
