This band is starting to confuse me. I don't understand this direction. Yes, they did promise to get heavier, and they did, but to me it comes at a cost. This kinda album is good if you are the type of person who listens to it passivly, listening to the music, but not the message. The songs meant nothing to me, it dosen't sound arranged well, and there was nothing to grab hold of you. When underoath released "they're only chasing safety," that was an interesting album, full of technical music, wonderful singing/screaming, and the music was fun to listen to. If you enjoyed the movie, the CD is awesome! All the tunes bring back that silly happy feeling you had while watching the movie. My children especially love it and I am excited that they have the exposure to theatrical show tunes!

They are calling it Neo-classical. It's the classically trained voice, singing with some "pop" quality, and singing newer compositions including modern instruments.

Josh Groban has a fabulous singing voice, and the selection of songs on this recording is nearly flawless. I love the fact that he is helping to bridge the gap between "pop" and "art" musics.

Pacific Ocean Blue - Legacy Edition

Dennis Wilson's Pacific Ocean Blue has been released in a "Legacy" edition with a second disc of bonus material. The packaging has overblown hype suggesting this may be the best solo release by a Beach Boy. Give me a break!!!!

The original recording is not awful. It isn't particularly interesting either. Nothing about it merits the release of a "Legacy" edition and there is absolutely nothing of interest on the disc of bonus material. That Legacy edition is being sold as a full-price two CD set is shameful.

In the Wilson family Dennis got the looks and Brian got all of the song-writing genius.

For great solo Beach Boys works see Smile or That Lucky Old Sun.

Often reviewed as a sloppy album it nevertheless is historic for the fact that they split up after this album. I am a Beatle lover, so I like most of their songs, but "Let It Be", "The Long and Winding Road", and "I Me Mine" ( from George) are classics. It's a must have for Beatle fans.

I don't think I've ever thought that a record was produced too well, but this might be it. I actually enjoyed the grizzly feel to older mofro albums. JJ's voice sounds great on this record, but the songs are too bland. They seem to have gone from swamp rock to mainstream blues. Finally, while their overall type of music seems to have taken a fairly large change, almost every record on this album sounds the same as the next.

Highlights are On Fire and Everything Bad is Good.

Coveting Stevie Wonder's 'Musiquarium' all these years, I now justly feel guilty for getting this fabulous collection at such a cheap price.

Nevertheless, a collection without Stevie is one bereft, so I am happy to have his greatest hits to play in my car and in my MP3 player.

The essential of essentials: For upbeat soul songs, no one can beat his list: "Uptight," "I Was Made to Love Her," and "Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I'm Yours". Each is a splendid, toe-tappin' soul delight.
