This was my first Elvis music purchase and I hate to say it but it's a disappointment. Elvis is great and I like the songs but it's advertised as an audio CD and that's what I thought I was buying - and my receipt says it an audio CD. But it is NOT an audio CD - it is an audio DVD. And being an audio DVD (with no video and no menu) it won't play in ANY of my CD players - not my home CD players and not my car CD player. So I get to listen to Elvis through my tinny TV speakers with no way to select certain songs. Also there are two songs that the audio drops on for about 30 seconds. I ONLY give it two stars because it's Elvis. Sorry Amazon, you dropped the ball on this one.

bought this cd for my daughters expecting to hate it. these boys are super talented and mature beyond their years. also, what a refreshing change for my 13 yr old to this rather than all the stripper and party based hits of the current pop & hip hop charts. plus, bonus edition has cool extras. great price on amazon too!

I got "Sunshine Lies" today, and have already given it two loud listens. It reminds me of Blue Sky on Mars (Matthew plays everything but drums on every track, and he's a GREAT bass player), Altered Beast or 100% Fun (mostly up-tempo, hard-edged stuff), and touches of psychedelia, as on In Reverse. There is everything from mellotron on one track, to Susanna Hoff's heavenly backing vocals on another. There have been Matthew Sweet records that it took me several listens to like; "Sunshine Lies" will not be one of them.

The other night I decided to pull out HDN and watch it for the first time in several years. I have both the MPI and Miramax DVDs so I reached for my good old MPI edition and popped it in. The 1.33:1 aspect ratio always bugged me a bit but I thought "so what" and decided to watch it because I love the opening "I'll Cry Instead" prologue on that version. When the movie got to the "And I Love Her" sequence I started, for the first time, to notice that the mix was different than the video tape I'd seen years ago. Paul's vocal, which should be single-voiced on the main verses, was double tracked throughout. During the song, the director's assistant positions George's amp on an amp stand. When George tries to lean against it, it falls and in the original soundtrack ... Read More:

Very talented ex-mex pats conquering the acoustic world. Just an all around great album that compares to none. And please be sure not to describe this music as flamenco, ok? No waaayyyy! Enjoy..

Thank you, Sheryl, for doing what so few of your colleagues have dared to do: taking on Bush, Cheney, et al foresquare, with candid, courageous lyrics about what's gone wrong, and why. . .as well as inspirational choruses expressing and engendering hope for a progressive, post-Dubya future. The music itself is adventurous and eclectic, and the CD deepens and richens with each listen. "The Globe Sessions" is still her masterpiece, but this is right up there w/ "Sheryl Crow" and "Wildflower" as Silver-Medal Sheryl -- and her second-bests whomp most artists' "bests."
