This is the pinnacle of "marketing the same songs". I remember when Greatest Hits albums were it - you put one out and you were done. Now, there's repackaging, and new editions, updated remasters, and the phrase "Complete Greatest Hits" just strikes me as odd. I mean doesn't the concept of "Greatest Hits" mean that all of your good stuff is there? So why would songs on a "Complete Greatest Hits" as opposed to just "Greatst Hits" be as good? If those songs were as good as the original batch, wouldn't they have been on the first edition? This seems like marketing twaddle to me.

Dear people, Although I've grown up on McGuinn, Clark and Hillman I can 'dig ' this poorly edited CD, for starters the vocals are most of the time mixed so deep in the mix you cannot even detect them, this is especially true for large parts of Shine on you crazy diamond and the middle eight section of Wellcome to the machine,tis' just plain inaudible!!! This is a bad quality as POLYDOR JAPAN has left us with.
I really appreciate the superficial tunes by McGuinn, Clark and Hillman better, but OK says I: what gives?

"Let It Go," is not the best country CD you will hear. Nor is it the worst. What it just might be is the stepping stone to the next chapter in Tim McGraw's career - the chapter where he's taken seriously as an artist.

No more barbecue stains on his white t-shirt and that makes some of you sad, doesn't it? Well, I guess Tim could stay the same as he was twenty years ago and we could all go back to high school and the world could stop evolving. Tim's an artist and he's trying to become a better one. This record is a huge step in the right direction.

The Rhumb Line (2008, Barsuk) Ra Ra Riot's first studio album. ****

The tragic death of drummer John Pike in 2007 didn't detract Ra Ra Riot at all. If anything, it pushed them on, almost forcing them to stay on course with a goal they all agreed on; to make beautiful music. The Rhumb Line is mixed with tributes to Pike, but instead of sounding depressive and mournful, they sound inspired. It is clear that the band feels things will never be the same, but they don't make the audience pay for something they can't understand. It starts off with "Ghost Under Rocks," a galloping introduction. I am pleased that The Walkmen released this collection, and invited me in to share their music, interpreting it how I please. For me, this release sounds incredibly close, something that seems familiar, that's been around for a while, yet simultaneously completely new and unique. The music seems sparse but at the same time small, tight, and deep with purpose. What sounds like a lyric of despair elicits a sense of hope.

Mess of Blues

I love Jeff Healey but this album has a few clunkers. I'd have left off Jambalaya, The Weight, and particularly, Like a Hurricane. The music's fine, but his vocal is flat and lifeless. Healey was a good singer but his voice isn't suited to this song (same with The Weight). Healey's big strength was slow blues, like ZZ Top's Blue Jean Blues, a tune that blew away the Top version. A few more of these on this record would have been really nice. However, as usual his guitar work is stellar, and he will be sorely missed I just wish he'd gone out with more of a statement.

I FIRST HEARD SHWAYZE FLIPPING THROUGH THE CHANNELS AND GOT ADDICTED TO THE SONG BUZZIN. THEN WHEN THEY DROPPED CORONA AND LIME I WAS LIKE OKAY THEYRE ONTO SOMETHING.THE TV SHOW IS FUNNY AS HELL I WATCH EVERY WEEK ON MTV. THE ALBUM IS CRAZY FROM BEGINNING TO END. MY FAVS WOULD HAVE TO BE HOLLYWOOD AND JAMES BROWN IS DEAD. THIS CD SOUNDS LIKE IT WAS MADE FOR STONERS BUT NON SMOKING PEOPLE LIKE ME CAN STILL ENJOY IT THE MUSIC IS SO LAID BACK YET CRAZY.....NAW ITS SHWAYZE
