I love Jack Johnson and this CD was no different than the rest of his, PERFECT! I can listen to Jack Johnson no matter what mood I am in and his songs fit in just right. What an amazing artist. This CD is my favorite of his.

Like something good that you know is good, Lizz Wright is synonymous with impeccability and goodness. Her third album is a testament to this. The beautiful voice and the prestine arrangement; its all there and its familiar and flawless. The album starts strongly with "Coming Home" about being back from a war or the mere battlefields of life itself, then finishes with "Strange" a haunting, resonant ballad about being left behind for another. Everything in between is all good. It's a pity she spends most of the concert season in Europe. I highly recommend that you take every effort to see her live. It will be an experience that you will cherish. Hearing her sing right there is like nirvana, the ultimate in high defintion sound. Her etheral ... Read More:

I heard of Alejandro Escovedo for the first time a few weeks ago when I read about him in "No Depression" magazine. He had a new CD out, so I bought it. The first time I listened to it I kept wondering why I hadn't heard of this guy before. Great voice, great songwriter, great musician. Many good songs here, notably "Sister Lost Soul" and "Golden Bear." I understand this album is sort of a retrospective of his varied career, so I'm looking forward to going back and checking out his previous work.

Every few years a band comes along to blow everything out of the water and MGMT are that band. It's totally fresh and new and there's really nothing like it. The only thing it could even be compared to is if David Bowie and of Montreal had a baby, and that baby took lots of acid. "Time To Pretend" almost reminds me of "Smells Like Teen Spirit" in a way. As soon as you hear the opening to the song you know it can't be anything else( I won't get into how it also speaks to the "disillusioned youth"). "Of Moons, Birds, and Monsters may be the best song on the album, along with "Pieces of What" If you want something new and exciting give this a try, you won't regret it.

I couldn't imagine who was singing those soulful, Motown, Temptations-like tunes I grew up with from CKLW when I heard them on WMNF only 2 months ago. This is a great addition to my CD collection. No better purchase can be made if you love the Temptations and R & B from the 60's and early 70's...What a great voice, excellent backups and musicians who do it the right way. I am so glad I bought it. Just purchased two more of his CDs. Thanks for having it in stock!!

I enjoyed the first two studio albums enough (Room for Squares & Heavier Things) and I liked this album on its initial release. I thought he was a good song writer but I wasn't completely sold on his guitar playing talent until I saw him live. It wasn't until then that I ran out and bought every live album he's made. He is truly amazing live. Despite the fact that I think the record company is trying to shake me down for more of my hard earned money for an album I already own, this album is worth it for the six live tracks alone. I bought it for the live, 10 minutes and 21 seconds, incendiary version of "Gravity" and the rockin' live version of "I Don't Need No Doctor". This is a must have if you're a John Mayer fan. And if you don't have "Where The Light ... Read More:

Easily one of the Beatles best albums! Diverse songwriting styles are showcased with each song seemingly having a different style yet they blend perfectly with each other. Of course in charge of the production was George Martin as always. It's amazing how much ground this album covers given the fact that none of the fourteen songs featured actually lasts more than three minutes and a half!!
By the time this album was released in 1966 the band's sound had evolved a lot indeed. Especially when you think that their debut collection was released just three years earlier!
Let's start with guitarist John Lennon who sings five songs here. The first is "I'm Only Sleeping" with a simple band sound of drums, bass, and a lone dominating acoustic guitar ... Read More:

if you like this type of music then I think that you might like Crystal Castles better. I think the beats are much better, the vocals are more interesting and the creativity is just, overall, stronger.
ALSO - CC is on a non-RIAA label. If that matters to you. It does to me.
