I am normally wary of "various artists" CDs. But this one is from Cleveland International! There are 29 tracks, almost no two from the same artist, yet there are no misses. One of my favorites is If I Could Be Like You, in which a young child named Ryan tells Eddie Blazonczyk ("Eddie B") he wants to grow up to be like him, and Eddie B responds he is already well on his way, because pleasing people comes straight from his heart. It's heartwarming as well as lively and entertaining. I've played this CD two or three times per day since I've owned it, and I show no sign of tiring of it. Great recording quality, too, even track 25, which obviously came from the surface of a vinyl LP. Top-notch virtuosity and variety.

A must have collection for accordion afficionados everywhere. Jo Ann Castle's "Bumble Boogie" stands out in the how does she do that file. My other favorites were Dick Contino's "Lady of Spain" (no accordion album would be complete without this song) and Martin DeLugg's "So What's New", a martini lounge favorite. I would like to have seen "Tico Tico" on the album and no Weird Al stuff, but will have to wait till next time.

OK--I'm only slightly ashamed to admit that I succumbed to the urge to buy a Lawrence Welk album; I like big band music so much--especially such stalwarts as "Stardust" and "Caravan", which get fine treatments on this disc--that I put away my prejudice against square, fuddy-duddy Lawrence. And guess what--this disc works! It is darn good music. Except for "Christopher Columbus", which they homogenized and softened too much, this would be a welcome addition to your Swing/Big Band collection.
