I am a huge fan of Nelson Eddy. I listen to his music frequently. The CD OUT OF THE NIGHT is a gem! I enjoy all of the songs on it, most especially the songs CLOSE and WITH THESE HANDS (a duet with Jo Stafford).
The clarity of this CD is absolutely amazing. It's as though Mr. Eddy is in the same room with you. If you were one of the lucky ones to have seen him live in concert, this is sure to bring back many wonderful memories. If, like me, you never had the pleasure to see this great baratone perform live...OUT OF THE NIGHT is an incredible simulation...a real treat!
Kudos to Jasmine Records for their great work on this CD. Here's looking forward to more wonderful recordings of Nelson Eddy from Jasmine.

Surprisingly humorless interviews, given the title, all of which are serious, quite downbeat and just plain unfunny.
Don't get me wrong: I can totally appreciate that comedians think it burdensome to have to be funny in their off-time, and that Ms. Gross's success is to a large extent attributable to her ability to put difficult to interview people at ease.
That said, the title of this collection is misleading, as there are no laughs at all, really, just some mildly interesting conversations (and that is being quite generous). No great revelations either, if you are at all familiar with people interviewed.
Disappointing, given the promising roster of comedians.

LED ZEPPELIN-REMASTERS: If the Led Zep box set is too much of a good thing for you (or too tough on your purse strings), then this two CD abbreviated set (plus an interview disc) is the next best thing. Chronologically skimming the cream from all their classic albums, disc one is pretty much one of THE definitive histories of heavy metal, from the bombastic first track COMMUNICATION BREAKDOWN to the last, that eight minute all-time FM radio juggernaut that need not be mentioned by name here. In between, you get the psychedelic blooze of DAZED AND CONFUSED, the stereo headphone demonstrater WHOLE LOTTA LOVE, the gargantuan crunch of IMMIGRANT SONG, and most of LED ZEPPELIN IV. The second, weaker disc represents the less interesting last half of their career, ... Read More:

The down side to this CD is if you've heard/seen anything else by Fatel, then a good amount of the material here will be very familiar. The plus side is that the guy still makes it so funny it hurts. Also, the bonus recording of his first standup performance is a nice addition.

I was a little let down by this CD. I am a fan of other things Stephen Cope has done and was expecting to be really excited by this. But there is nothing new here and it seems much more surface level than his other works (perhaps it is the spoken vs. written, but I find people like Pema Chodrun and Jack Kornfield very compelling on audio). This would make a nice introduction for someone who really has not spent much time on yoga/meditation, but is probably not for people who have read Cope's work.

I also find this album extremely well done. One of my most played in my collection, as well. When Ms. Anderson hits the nail on the head, it's a direct hit! Two tracks, in particular, are my favorites. 'World Without End' and 'Tightrope' are both tracks that I play over and over. They have the ability to grab you by your soul. The album has an overall dark characteristic (maybe Ms. Anderson needs to get out of the city occasionally?), but that same darkness is what makes these two tunes, in particular, so mesmerizing. Here voice is very immediate, right in your ear, as if she is speaking quietly just to you.
I am also a big fan of Brian Eno, and his work on this album is the perfect compliment to Lauries keyboard work and lyrics. The magic is in the subtleties. ... Read More:

Huckleberry Finn is a classic. Simple as that. It provides a look into what life was probably like for a 19th century boy. It was different than the life of children today, because today life centers around education. Back then, it was a regular thing to play hooky, even though they got in trouble for it when they were caught. And when they were punished, usually it was with a beating instead of `You're Grounded!'.
The book shows us how badly slaves were treated. They weren't even considered humans! It was like they didn't have feelings, and didn't see things the same way white people did. They way the slaves actually did think was odd. It was sad to see that they could slap a slave for no reason, and the slave would accept it either because they were used to it or they thought ... As a mother of two children and a music teacher in the Los Angeles School System for 20 years, I absolutely recommend this recording above all others for families who want to be entertained and enlightened. Richard Burton's voice is thrilling to listen to. The other cast members on this CD are also excellent and thoroughly charming. The background music score is brilliant. It is easy to see why this recording won a Grammy Award for "best children's recording" - it is without a doubt the most exceptional dramatization of Antoine de St. Exupery's classic story.
