i got this cd because i love the hawaiian sound. however, all the songs sound alike, the synthesiser is awful and after a few songs it becomes unbearable. i'm looking for another cd to replace this one.

This is Keali'i's second release. It features cover versions of Bette Midler's "Every Road Leads Back to You" and Elton John's "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" from The Lion King. "Every Road Leads Back to You" is a duet with contemporary Hawaiian artist Robi Kahakalau. Keali'i's versitility, in other words how well he can sing different genres of music, comes across in "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" and "Stay." As usual, Hawaiian songs and chants are also included. As someone wrote in "Keali'i Reichel Voice of an Angel," "Lei Hali'a is beyond stunning. It is utterly chiiiiicken skeeeeen!" I agree completely.

I wasn't aware that Makaha Sons was the music of Iz until a lady in a small shop in Kauai told me about it. I'm so glad she did because I love this CD. It is so relaxing and soothing. My only complaint is that it doesn't have more solos by Izzie because his voice is perfect. May he rest in peace and know how many Mainlanders love him.

A long overdue Steel Guitar box collection beginning with an entire CD devoted to pretty early Hawaiian and Hawaiian style performances including an example of Sol Hoopii's pre-jazz/pop playing. As a steel guitar player myself I find very little of this NOT interesting! There is definitely a mix of instrumentals vs. vocal performances demonstratiing what the steel
can do as a a dynamic blending element, a mood under-liner and the center of the melody. One fascinating blunder is the graphic on the cover has a PICTURE of BUD ISAACS in the circle all the way to right on the cover and the name above the picture is BUDDY EMMONS when neither of these HIGHLY influential performers are credited or from what I have noticed even INCLUDED in this box anywhere!! ... Listening to Marty Robbins sing these Gunfighter Ballads with each song one after another, Marty never fail's to paint a picture in your mind. I remember my dad playing these record's when we were kids,songs like El Paso,Big Iron,The Masters Call etc.. When my son was born I went on-line searching for lullabies to download for him. Well I found the Hawaiian lullaby on this cd and my son loved it. I had no clue who Keali'i was, but now we listen to it non-stop. I couldn't find anymore of Keali'i's music that I could download but I did find this cd. As a baby my son would scream for 1 1/2 hours in the car on the drive to visit my parents. Once I found this cd, I played it in the car and as soon as the music started he would stop screaming. I don't know if it is because the sound is different from what he is used to hearing or what, but he loved it and it wasn't annoying baby music that I couldn't stand to listen to for 1 1/2 hours.
