Hello:

Allow me first to say I'm a Law Student and the substantial amount of reading I face with everyday it is sometimes impossible to acquire concentration for extended periods of time. I bought this CD a week ago and i must say this was a gift from God. I play the CD while I do my usual readings and I have noticed that not only i go through my readings faster, but also everything I read sticks with me (reducing the law school chiche of READ, RE-READ and READ AGAIN in order to understand the law), PLUS the music is BEAUTIFUL!!!. I will definitely recommennd this CD if you're a student, or a workaholic or simply you jsut want to enjoy the riches of delighting your ears to the magnificent sounds of classical music.

This a wonderfull Handel CD, a great mix of his songs both uptempo and sacred. I don't really know much about his works but i thought this cd as a casual fan of the artsist was a very good mix of songs.

I admit it: this is less a review and more of a compulsion to weigh in on the debate, as both a performer of early music and a longtime shapenote singer.

First of all, this is Anonymous 4, and these women are much to polished and professional to do anything less than magnificent. That being said, this is Anonymous 4, and they worked for years on perfecting their sound and in particular the blend of their four voices. They cannot be expected to sound like four random singers at a Sacred Harp convention, where anyone and everyone is welcome. The first time I saw Kristin Chenoweth in a movie was the TV "Music Man". Just lately I listened to the "Wicked" soundtrack, and after that, I've been listening to Kristin's CDs whenever I can. This one is a jazzy, Broadway-type CD with fun, engaging songs. She's a different type of singer, and while not everyone might enjoy her voice, I really do. If you like Broadway, jazz, drama, romance, or just fun, catchy songs, this is a CD for you.

If you don't mind a movie version of an opera, then this is a great production to enjoy. It takes place in the actual spots designated in the libretto and is very realistic even though the characters are singing instead of speaking. The costumes are beautiful and very authentic. The singers were all in their prime physically and vocally and give powerful performances. Since it was edited, there are no intermissions which gives the opera a strong build-up to the final scene. I certainly was caught up in the intrigue even though I've seen the opera many times.

I have a half dozen dvds of this operatic masterpiece, and this one is, hands down, my favorite. McVicar's production is flawless, and the singers all give fully committed performances here. Not only do they act superbly, but they can all sing! Le nozze di Figaro is a funny and at the same time deeply moving and even disturbing opera, and you will experience all of that here. Without question this dvd is one of my very, very favorites in my entire collection, which probably consists of over 200 operas on dvd. I only wish I could give this more than five stars!

It is an excellent presentation of Massenet's opera Manon. Of course, the dream cast of Natalie Dessay and Rolando Villazon contributes enormously to the enjoyment of this DVD. The production is first-class and depicts the life of these women, who are paid for by wealthy suiters, more realistically than in any other production.
Highly recommended.

This 2 CD collection is exactly what I hoped for-Pavarotti at his best!
It's a nice variety of his classic repertoire and his popular music performances. It's a good way to archive the great tenor in one location, and one to listen to over and over.

If Hildegard Von Bingen wrote music for a hip lounge, this would be it. Its amazing that music this old ( from the 1100's) can sound so wonderful and modern with the addition of modern instruments. It really energizes the old music I have couple of recordings of Hildegard's music with out the addition of lounge, and this wonderfully differant. Lounge or medieval, Hildegard is always wonderful.
