This is a great CD! This is the 2nd CD that I bought of the Tabernacle Choir. I purchased this and haven't taken it out of our CD player in 2 months. It is very inspirational and very professionally done. I recommend you buy this immediately!

After hearing a selection from this CD on NPR, I knew I had to purchase a copy. I bought a copy for myself and also as a gift. David Russell takes his guitar to a place that touches your soul and makes your heart sing along. Even if you are not a fan of classical music you will love this CD.

I'm no musicologist, but perhaps this album brings up an interesting point.

Consider for a moment, how quiet and intimate string instruments were from this time. The strong, operatic voices commonly employed today for this early music are more at home in large concert halls, not intimate gatherings. In most recordings of Dowland's music you can barely hear the lute because the voice is so powerful in comparison.

I wonder if quieter, "pop" style voices like Sting's were the norm during this period. Perhaps, as instruments became louder, and the venues for hearing them larger, the more powerful-voiced operatic style developed and became the norm.

I bought this four years ago when it was first released and didn't like it. I only listened to it once back then - I think I was expecting another Eden or La Luna. I put this cd in my player last month and fell in love with it. This is my favorite Sarah Brightman cd. I actually love it more than Eden and La Luna (both were extremely good). I own all of her cds, but this one is her best. My favorite tracks are 2, 4, 5, 8, 9, 10, 13 and 14. Sarah's voice is so beautiful - she's extremely talented. I'm going to add the DVD to my wish list.

Sir Colin Davis has done it again! The genius has made another beautiful interpretation of the one of Mozart's final pieces. I may be biased since Die Zauberflote is my favorite opera, but this is a fantastic performance! The cast is magnificent, especially Diana Damaru as the Queen of the Night (my reason for the purchase). However Tamino and Pamina both give memorable performances. Papageno, however sticks out as one of the most memorable performances. He gives both humor and drama where needed, and has perfect control over all of his movements and voice.

Both the set and lighting design are stunning. The cinematography is tasteful, in that you see the production as both a movie and a staged opera (or Singspiel). I have no complaints at all about this ... Read More:
