This is one of the best opera productions I've ever seen. It is so compelling. The singing is superb and the costuming is perfect. I thought it must be a recently recorded piece but was astoninshed to see that it was done in the seventies. I am thrilled to have it in my collection of opera on DVD. My title applies primarily to the 1965 black & white film of Alexis Weissenberg playing Stravinsky's Three Movements from Petrushka, amazingly creatively filmed in Stockholm by Åke Falck. I remember seeing this film on TV almost forty years ago and the memory of it has stayed with me ever since. I am so pleased finally to have a copy of that marvelous film. Weissenberg was in his early thirties at the time and at the very height of his considerable form. The views provided by Falck are highly unusual but each has a clear intention of adding to our enjoyment of the music by showing us in closeup both the hands of Weissenberg and the movements of the mechanism of the piano; the camera actually almost climbs inside the piano. For those of you unfamiliar with Josh Groban this is a great way to start. It is his first cd - self titled - What a voice. He has several other cd's as well as dvd's (awesome by the way) He changed my life - We call ourselves Grobonites a proud name to bear. Whatever you've heard about the music - if you haven't listened you truly need to. You will not be sorry about the investmant you've made. He has a charitable foundation that helps bring medicine and drinking water to villages in Africa. His foundation also works with AIDS patients. I've actually met him and was able to tell him that he helped me thru Cancer his voice kept me going thru some tough times. Please just listen once. (and it doesn't hurt that he's cute too!)

I see that under Product Details, the Aspect Ratio for this DVD is specified as 1.33:1, which is the 4:3, or Fullscreen aspect ratio. PLEASE tell me that's a misprint. Surely they're releasing these discs in Widescreen, or 16:9 (1.78:1), format. That's how the HD Live Series simulcasts were shown in theaters. I'd be very disappointed if these were not Widescreen. Does anyone know? Thanks.

I was not pleased with the selections on this CD. The tunes are obscure and the lyrics are uninteresting on several of the tracks. There are 3 or 4 pretty good tracks, I do not use the others.
