This mix CD was just okay for me. The first track is a mix of all the tunes used on the CD, which is a waste of space, and the tunes used were more house flava than the ol' skool I was looking for.

SEX AND VIOLENCE, Although commerically his worst selling album of all the BDP albums, lyrically and production wise, is his best as he ridded the rap world of X-Clan, Poor Righteous Teachers and the soft as mallow pie PM Dawn on the singles "We In There" and "Build and Destroy". The 12" single remix of the "We In There" single includes a track on the other side called "Feel The Vibe, Feel the Beat" where he basically massacres that track and ended PM Dawn's and his former homey D-Nice's career.
This had to be the first KRS-ONE lp that I could actually listen to the tracks more than I could just the lyrics. KRS-ONE was going through a lot personally before this album, the divorce from his wife Ms Melodie, the beef with former homie ... Read More:

If you like old school punk, then you will love this CD. This is from before the Beasties were about hip-hop, and from this CD you can see where there rock roots come from.
Release Date November 10, 1998
If you purchased this for the first track alone it is more than worth it. Superb!!! The subtlety, range and perfection of pitch meshed with the emotional interpretation on LUSH LIFE can not be outdone. All the rest is gravy and there's a lot. Critics didn't care so much for the film--I loved it, and audiences seemed to miss the black humor and interplay of music with plot advancement; but for me the film and the music merged and are stellar. This is it a "BUY IT!!!" huge.

if you can find this for a cheaper price, its worth getting, especially for a hardcore beasties fan. the Free Zone remix surpasses the original version, and the PP Balloon remix just falls short, but is still very good. the live tracks are very good and show off the energy of the band.

I heard pieces of this CD, "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised" and "Whitey's On The Moon," on a local community radio station in very-white Salt Lake City called KRCL (yes, that's a "plug") and was surprised it ever made it to CD... not because it's no good but because it's so not-corporate and so angry and so incredibly poetic and just SO good. Scott-Heron puts you where he lives, over and over again, with angry language that, when it's done, leaves you knowing you've heard maybe some of the most exquisite poetry of the late 20th century. And, no, I don't think that's an exaggeration at all. That it's available from (very-corporate) Amazon is a ironic, but I'll take my poetry where I can get it.

I was 17 when this album hit the market, and to me, it was the best album of the year; period. I enjoyed each and every track that is on this album. Masta Ace showed his chops as being one of the premier Mc's of the 90's on this album. This album is not a classic, it is an Opus. It does suck that Ace and the Inc. were not promoted the way they should have been, but his long lasting career is a testament to his dedication to his music.

All you need if you new to Kool Moe Dee. This was my first album from Kool moe dee and i feel like i dont need anymore because i loved all these tracks and was very happy with the mix. I was going to buy How Ya Like Me Now but realized i already had all my favorite tracks. there are some nice diss tracks directed at LL Cool J which make this album dope. But i noticed that the track list is wrong, Only 14 songs and the song with KRS 1 and Chuck D is missing. Other then that if you new to Kool moe Dee make sure you pick this up for some funky beats and dope lyrics. Def oldschool./

If you thought Guns and Roses were bad boys of the 1980's then N.W.A. made them look like sissies. When "Straight Outta Compton" dropped, the entire world was flipped upside down. The lyrical onslaught of Ice Cube, the beat making genius of Dr. Dre, the menacing swagger of MC Ren, the turntable wizadry of DJ Yella on the breaks, the wildy dry humour of Eazy-E, and the super dope manager Jerry Heller. It seemed like an unbeatable combination but lack of group compromise and unrest between the members caused a break up and things never were quite the same. Ice Cube moved on to put out critically acclaimed solo projects and N.W.A. carried on without him. So how do you cope without a vital part of the team, you turn the controversial heat up super mega degrees.
