Eric B & Rakim, the DJ, emcee duo from New York are legends and drop 360 degrees of knowledge, for real. Rakim, a g in the classic sense, is all about spreading science to the 5% who are Gods, and even the rest. "I Ain't No Joke" is dope as pretty much any song to come before or after it and is a great intro to the album. And the realness does not stop there, the rest of the album is just as good.

This deluxe edition is loaded with great remixes and such and is a must for an rap fan, rapper, or anyone or just digs dope beats and rockin' rhymes. Peace.

This is one of the best disco compilations ever, hands down! The song selection and mixes are just perfect. You can find here some of those gems that if you are lucky enough to find, you will be paying $500 or more per single. This is a compilation that would be enjoyed a little bit more for those who are not 'beginners' to the disco style. Cd 1 by Dimitri is perfect, the mixes are flawless. Cd 2 by DJ Muro is my favorite though, it is one of the best mixes I ever heard, Bravo!! If you are looking for something not commercial at all, this is the right cd set for you. You will enjoy it for sure!

If you are looking for the roots of Rap Music this is it. The Sugarhill Gang and Grandmaster Flash got the ball rolling back in the late 70s and early 80s. They've all but been forgotten in the years since, but Blondie made Rapper's Delight a big hit in 1980, and the rest as they say is history.

I remember getting this album after the stinker skeezer/pleezer and was like dang, this joint is hot. Ya Cold Wanna Be with me was definitely the jam of that summer in D.C. The radio stations played the cover off this song and Mo Bass was getting heavy rotation based on it's go-go flavor (before it was fashionable for N.Y. rappers to even have that sound on any of their singles and albums). Of course the love affair with this lp lasted shortly as I bought Doin It and I didn't even make it past three songs before I pulled the tape out of my tape player in the car and toss it out on I-95. My buddy laughed me outta the car all the way home from The Wiz as he was smart enough to purchase NWA's new album "Straight Outta Compton". Hmmn, wonder how that album worked out for him? ... Run DMC may not have had that mucn in common with the Beatles musically but they were both pioneers for creating album music for their respective genres. Beatles for Rock in the 1960's and Run DMC for Hip Hop in the 80's when they released this album in 1984, which was the first real Hip Hop album with a coherant theme and songs with some substance. Before this, Hip Hop was mostly abouting having fun and dancing and as fun as Sugar Hill Gang had been it just wasn't something you wanted to hear throughout an entire album. Run DMC's sound was much harder and relied on hard hitting sparse electronic beats kind of like Afrika Bambaataa's "Planet Rock" from two years prior and tough, confident sometimes daring rhymes.
