My boyfiend and his band, who after a show or even before (actually they break out into song quite randomly, it's quite entertaining) were always singing these songs. So, I took a listen. (Which was really through a blasting headphone while riding the bus). Liked what I heard, then obtained a CD from a friend.
Whoa. Oh, and this just is not any kind of normal nonchalant whoa! This is a "whoa" that you stop everything that you were doing, stare at your mp3, or stereo, raise your brows and just belt out the longest and most heartfelt "whoa" you have ever let out in your life. Then you quickly stop so you don't miss another note.
This is one the best albums I have every listened too. Pure Genius! I dare anyone here, ... Read More:

This is the album that put her on the map. I can't begin to tell you how wonderful it is. I first heard her song "Cymbeline" on "Thistle and Shamrock" about 10 years ago, and instantly fell in love with her music and went right out and bought this album. I have to say, I was definitely not disappointed. The best tracks are "Greensleeves", (which coincidentally, almost didn't make it on the listings!), "Tango to Evora" "The lady of Shallot" and "Cymbeline". That being said, all of the others are very good as well. Loreena McKinnett is a very talented and unerrated artist that I feel everyone needs to know about. Please give this a listen, and I promise that you will thank me!

The concept of this CD, produced by Brooks Arthur is a commendable one. He knows lots of folks in show business who are Jewish and decided that newly recorded versions of "Jewish" songs would be great. All but one of the 13 tracks on this (somewhat short at 44-minute length) were recorded in 2006 and 2007 by the artists. The lone "oldie" is "Avinu Malkeinu" by Barbra Streisand, which comes from her 1997 "Higher Ground" album.
The CD starts off great with The Manhattan Transfer performing a great swing version of "Utt Da Say" about a tailor making a dress. It had me tapping my feet immediately. Then Neil Sedaka (who recorded a whole CD of Yiddish songs a few years back) slows it down with "My Yiddishe Momme". Smooth jazz meet traditional Yiddish ... Read More:

I have started a collection of Klezmer music and I have never been disappointed by what I have found here on Amazon. The music is such an intricate part of the Jewish culture and this particular CD will alternately squeeze your heart and make your clap your hands...awesome!

First off let me start by saying that if I could I'd give this album a 4.5 instead of a full 5, but seeing as only two of the songs are responsible for all of my gripes I'm going to go ahead and give this the higher rating.
The biggest problem with this CD is that the group chose one of the more less appealing songs to promote - in this case Looking Glass. Out of all the songs from Walking With Strangers that would have made a better promotional vid or song I would have named almost any other. The music video is almost painfully embarrassing to watch as well, and while the band plays with an interesting concept in it all the artistic direction comes off as terribly cliched and trite. Huge bummer.
However despite these flaws this is still a ... Read More:

I just love this ep. I buy in to the Sonic Youth -PJ Harvey - Dinosaur Jr. comparisons. That's why it has its own fresh sound. I also think of The Reputation and Sarge. I usually have a lot to say about why I love a record. This one just stays in my rotation and I find it deeper with each listen. Go out and get it. I have the feeling that this record is only the beginning.....

Not as good as Old World Underground, Metric stays true to their signature style with this pop laced album. Vocals and producing are solid. The song styles are a bit more varied across the board here, which makes it a little less cohesive than I've come to expect.

I am so excited to see Garou has made an English CD. I have 3 of his French CD's and I could listen to them all the time. I haven't heard his English CD yet, but I am definitely purchasing it today. He is such a favorite of mine. I know his English has got to be as good as his French CD's. I hope his CD catches on in the states. He has a magnificent voice, and a terrific style, besides being very cute. Those eyes!!!!

Dalls come from Alexisonfire. I got this cd recently and just to keep it brief I really liked thius album a lot for some solo acustic stuff. His vocals just make you want to lay back and relax and soak up each and every song. Mellow, Hearfelt, and simply good album worth listening to at least, worth the money if you like the style.
