For some reason when I woke this morning I had this tune in my head and couldn't rest till I traipsed down to the basement and found the old LP. What a difference from today when you can play all 10 tracks on the CD without switching or changing the record, but back then I never heard the songs on side 2--and never played the second disc on the double-LP, not ever, didn't see any point to changing up from the first 2 tracks. Why did artists make such long LPs, why not just collect a few perfect tracks? And thus it wasn't until today that I would up hearing "International Lover" and "Free" and the other songs (some of them not so great) on the "second disc" of the double LP--well, that dates me, but I expect at this time in Prince's career ... Billy Idol - Greatest Hits

I grew up in the 80's listening to Billy on my mom's record player and now am still listening to him on my MP3. I got this because it has most of his best songs- although I am not crazy about Shock to the System. I also don't understand why some of his other soulful works are not included on any "greatest hits" albums. I would have liked for "Prodigal Blues" and "The Loveless"(Charmed Life) and "Worlds Forgotten Boy" (Whiplash Smile) to have been included here. Even so, it remains a must have for any Idol fan. Other great Billy albums are Charmed Life and Whiplash Smile as well as his latest, Devils Playground. Idolize Yourself (another hits compilation) will be released later this month with 2 new songs. Drawing equally from the Police, 70's and 80's dance pop, and a little of their own creativeness, the Virgins have managed to create a decent yet slightly generic album. It's the sort of thing that anyone can enjoy as background music, but when the question is what the Virgins are contributing that others haven't, the silence falls. I don't scold them, honestly, I enjoyed it well enough, but when you draw so much from an influence that your song can almost be confused for the influence (on Rich Girls, namely), it gets you down knowing they could have done it better. Entertaining enough, but a bit too much and not enough spunk.

I'm sure Chrissie was proud to write the Rush Limbaugh theme song LOL, This album was good, BUT This remaster with added tracks is Terrific ! Very little filler most every song is vibrant and fun, classic Pretenders. Chrissie Hynde is for sure one of R&R's most powerful vocalists. (I almost wrote most powerful women but that wasn't good enough.)The sound quality is top notch and she always surrounds herself with excellent musicians. My only complaint is I keep thinking the Rush Limbaugh show is about to start when the studio version on MY CITY WAS GONE starts. . . .

This is one of U2's best albums. Almost every song is great and 3 were hit singles, including Sunday, Bloody Sunday, New Year's Day and Two Hearts. New Year's Day has become a radio staple classic and is still fresh 20-something years later. I bought this cd for the remastering and I wasn't disappointed, the remastering is excellent. This is my 5th favorite U2 cd in the following order.

2 All That You Can't Leave Behind
3 How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb
4 Pop
5 War

Dark, painful, angry music here. And lyrics that match the mood, attached to the most brilliant melodies Sting ever strung together on one LP.

Their previous albums only set the table for Synchronicity. Sting, stung with king-sized pain from marital woes, calls on every creative fiber beneath his frown. The result: the Police were never better, cresting their talents in a musical finale that made me grateful, in a way, that they split afterward. I doubt they could have improved on this.
