Bravo! What a well done Maiden documentary this is. There are so many great interviews. I leanred much that I did not know even after being a Maiden fans for over 20 years. Very well put together. The menus are great. It is shot very well. Editing is great. Just perfect!

The greatest new wave album not by the talking heads, surely one of the greatest albums of all time. The band never was this strong or consistent again.

I can only listen to this CD through my car's crappy system. For home listening, it's hard to make it more than 30 seconds into track 2. It is recorded/mastered way too hot, there's no dynamics at all.
These boys managed to do the whole indie retro thing without much humiliation, but only but only a few years later, the Euro-snootiness masquerading as witty band interplay which embedded this debut with heavy buzz has seemed to wear thin, making the band's limitations seem even more apparent.

Be ready to hit the skip button to get past certain songs that were inserted on the CD for some unfathomable reason. The original songs from the 80's are still good.
Release Date October 25, 1990
Interesting then as it is now. I love the fact that the music critics in '80 just didn't get it - it's a moody, techno-post-punk album full of angst, alienation, and self-doubt. But unlike the band Suicide, a band that Ocasek admired, the melodies always come back to a, "there must be meaning to it all", bridge. Call it existential music, dude.

I bought this album for Mexican Radio, an amusingingly catchy song with a mean harmonica riff. Upon recieving the album I listened to it all the way through, and will definitely never do so again. Still, Mexican Radio was enough of an incentive for me to buy the album, so if you've got the Mexican Radio bug, go ahead and get a copy.

This album is musical stew. Now, at first glance, my first sentence may make about as much sense as the album's name, which is one of my favorite album titles ever. But the stretch from tracks two through nine pretty much runs together for me. It's like a stew, and well, I enjoy parts of the stew more than others.
First, let's talk about our pre- and post-stew tracks. You've got the charged-up, catchy New Wave rocker "Thank You For Sending Me an Angel" - one of my favorite Talking Heads songs, and certainly the best on the album. The two post-stew songs are quite good as well: the funky cover of "Take Me to the River", a just Top 40 hit for the group; and "The Big Country", a country-New Wave hybrid that mocks rural American values.
Then you've got the stew. The stew ... Read More:
