I love the genre of music that Nox puts out and wish there were a sat channel that played Nox's music. The Grimm Tales creates a beautifully dark nuance for the imagination to immerse itself in thats as a shadowy play land in an unhallowed forest.

Just has a swooshing sound similar (but by no means identical) to the ocean... with some cricket chirping sounds as well... underlying "brain sync" stuff going on as well, I suppose, nearly inaudible to the conscious brain.

Not much there in terms of anything that really jumps out at you... but I play it at work instead of music because I tend to end up listening very closely to music, which detracts my attention from my work! With this as ambient background noise, I actually am more focused on my work... not supremely focused like the CD claims: I'm not sure I buy the whole "brain sync" garbage, but this CD is good in a very unflattering way: by NOT grabbing your attention, it allows you to focus your attention on whatever else you're ... I have many CDs of this type and by Dr Thompson. He delivers what he promises: a very relaxing massage of the brain. I do warn against listening to this while driving or walking as it definitely zones me out in a few places.

Forty years passed between the composition of Corigliano's "Sonata for violin and Piano" (1963) and the Red Violin Concerto premiere in 2003. The two works are very different in scope and scale, but to my ears they have a lot in common. I don't guarantee that I could recognize a previously unheard piece of music instantly as Corigliano's, but I'd be willing to try. In his notes for this CD, Corigliano says: the sonata is "for the most part a tonal work, although it incorporates non-tonal and poly-tonal sections within it, as well as other 20th-century harmonic, rhythmic and construction techniques.
