Awesome CD. Definitely the most under rated country music star. More number 1 hits than on this CD than on ANY other CD I own.

Don't get me wrong here, I am one of the biggest Steve Earle fans around, and he's one of few artists who you can say has never put out a bad album. Every single album of his is a master work, and not many of his songs are weak. But this collection is a lame and extremely limited collection of mainly his early work; I have to think that's it's coming out to capitalize on the release of his new album, "Washington Square Serenade." Half the collection comes from his first two albums, when his last three albums up to 1997 were undoubtedly his strongest. Where are "The Other Kind", "Hometown Blues", "South Nashville Blues", "Ft. Worth Blues", "Hard Core Troubadour"? These songs blow away early tracks like "The Week of Living Dangerously" and ... Read More:

The other reviewers here have described both these masterpieces quite perfectly. So I'll just add that they both are written & conceived by Paul Kennerly, Emmylou Harris' ex, the guy who wrote all the "good" songs by the Judds, an Englishman who helped late seventies/early eighties Country Music to be something more than a vehicle for whiny, adenoidal lil' boyz wearing cowboy hats or vapor-brained former "beauty queens." And on a more personal note, after moving from somewhere in Georgia to an even-more-undefinable "somewhere" in Ohio, the combination of Eric Clapton's bottleneck-slide guitar, Steve Cash's vocal on the song "White Trash" and a 12 oz Red Bull kind of..."solidify reality" when things tend to get..."weird" up here in Buckeye ... I purchased this CD as a replacement for my father, as he had lost his copy. He's not one to listen to music, but this was one CD he raved about. We opened it up so I could see what he was talking about...and I had to listen to the entire CD right then and there! I was very impressed with the entire CD...I would recommend this to anyone!

AS a big country fan, this is music that put collin raye on the map to stardom. I can tell that this man has a passion for music, he beams of it in his music. Quality artist worth every dollar.

Hey Y'all struck me as a surprise back in 2002, because it was one of the few country albums made by a big record company that I actually liked. (Nashville biggies usually finance dull pop albums that they sell as country after a sprinkling of mandolin and fiddle here and there). My astonishment didn't last long, though, since Hey Y'all was the first - and last - of Cook's album with Warner, before she was discarded by the recording behemoth and went to increase the number of indie artists.
Balls is her second indie album and overall her best to date. It is composed of 11 tracks (9 original songs, a Velvet Underground cover and a track by her husband Tim Carroll) for a total length of 33 minutes.

If you haven't already, please disregard the 1st online review - the person who wrote it is actually giving CAPITOL RECORDS a 2-star rating, NOT Chris Ledoux. Granted, these songs have all been released previously (which is obvious if you read the list of songs included in the compilation), but obviously Chris won't be releasing any new songs, since he's deceased.
Naturally, we in Wyoming are extremely proud of our down-home boy, so I might sound biased. I also have copies of every tape & CD ever released, but this is still a great gift for anyone who loves C/W, rockabilly, rodeo, lighthearted songs about being a cowboy, or great ballads. You won't find anything better in the above music categories.

Not so long ago, my folks and I went to the Dominican Republic. While we were getting off the plane we heard the Nanci Griffith hit "Outbound Plane," being played on the satelite radio. I couldn't figure out who it was. So when I got home, I noticed that the other person who sang it was Suzy Bogguss. I borrowed a copy of this album from a friend and now I have it on my iPod. She sure sings some great songs. Others that I like incluede, "Drive South," and "I Want to Be a Cowboy's Sweetheart." Now I have just GOT to see her in concert. What a voice!

If, like me, you miss the old style western ballards about outlaws and lawmen, then you'll enjoy these old favorites sung by someone new.

I must be a hillbilly at heart 'cause this is good toe tapping fun. I bought this particular CD as I had just purchased a 5 string banjo for my husband's 59th birthday. The instrumentals on this CD are excellent as well as the vocals. Hat's off to you. Yeehah!
