I really dig Miss Badu. When this album was released I was very excited and liked it very much from the first listen. Track one is a bit gutsier than her usual smooth sound, but Eryka explores all human emotions and this song kicks. The lyrics on this recording show a maturity I hope continues to grow. This is a very creative artist that stays close to the soul/r&b tradition but manages to push the envelope with emotion and creativity. The self titled first disc is good too and the live album is as well, but buy the latter one for the playful track "Tyrone". If you're into soulful but modern female r&b stuff, and like introspective but open delivery of lyrical ideas then this girl's the one. I'd like to see more recordings from this ... Read More:

I ain't even gonna front. This CD kinda HOTT.. better than any of the others that they have released prior to this one.. Granted they may not have major label exposeure right now. But this is an album to be reckoned with.. Tracks 1,2,3,4,11,12,13 are off the chain.. if you are a R&B person then you gotta cop the album.. some of you may recongize the song "Feelin This" from the movie released earlier this year " Motives" .. Again pick the album up if you into a good ole classic R&B jams that make you wanna get your freak on then this is a must have

i have all of her cd's and this one is my favorite. i love every song on this album. this one for me really speaks to the soul, if you listen closely to the lyrics. favorite track is green eyes.

This is one of the best albums ever made. It's very complex and rich layering of superbly played jazz and modern HH and R&B is unsurpassed. The musicianship is astounding and the richness of the production means that every time you listen to it you hear something new. The lyrics are clever and sophisticated in parts with some very intelligent lyrical and musical wit which links the material to some classic jazz pieces. God only knows why this album wasn't massively successful and why it has been unavailable for some years. I have 3 copies just in case !! - Sean
