Watching the movie leaves you wanting more...so having the sound track is the closest thing. If you loved the quirky plot and excellent acting, you'd love the weird, rough-around-the-edges music, which was the amusing background to the story line. I also liked the bits of information given inside the CD cover.

When I saw the movie, the music was of course what struck me the most. This is an awesome cd with great performances by Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Jamia Simone Nash.

After seeing the intriguing video for the equally excellent first single, "L.E.S. Artistes," I immediately pre-ordered this debut from Santogold and patiently waited for its release. When I finally heard it, I must admit that I was a bit disappointed. Almost all of the songs on this self-titled disc can abe neatly split up into two simple categories: there are the experimental, out-of-the-box tracks that are very much like what M.I.A. does, and then there are 80's-esque pop/rock songs that sound exactly like something Gwen Stefani would do. Quite honestly, there is not much more in between, meaning that this album mostly feels like it's full of impersonations and style-biting rather than new music by a new, fresh, talented, and creative artist. ... When I first heard "A-punk" on the radio I assumed that the rest of the album wouldn't be that great. Most of songs are really good, and even the couple that aren't great are still pretty good. I might get tired of it in awhile but it is a really fresh sounding CD that is a lot of fun in the mean time.

I really needed to point out that only 1 out of 100 reviewers is as lame as... "C. Kirkpatrick" for giving only two stars and really not liking this. I would not send my daughter over to your house for a play date for sure. The musical is creative and whimsical! One of my all-time favorite memories was driving home with wife after dinner, daughter strapped in back with ABC's playing. She was about 18 months and recited all of the tree names pretty clearly in "C is for conifers". We both have many priceless memories from this CD.

This is a real score for both fans of Franki Valli and for Rhino records. This best of gathers songs from all phases of the band's career and Valli's solo albums, from various labels and multiple decades. From those first memorable singles "Sherry" and "Big Girls Don't Cry" on Vee-Jay (a label that was an early US host of The Beatles) to Valli scoring a number one with the Grease Soundtrack theme song, you can follow pop styles and trends through Valli's falsetto.

While those coming to this CD via the success of the Jersey Boys Broadway show will be taken aback by the primitive sound of the early records, the production was still very pristine for the times. I bought this with great anticipation, but I'm very disappointed. It's just loud and bombastic with Frank's voice brought up to compensate - there is very little dynamic contrast or sense of stage space or "air." Maybe this is good for car or ipod listening, but on a high-fi system it's sounds very artificial. Not recommended.

I just can't get over the incredible way the entire soundtrack starts out. The first two note motif of the Joker haunts you throughout the score. It is dark, moody, majestic, and exciting. Although there are spots when the score is at a low subtle level, just when you think "Is it going to move on?" it does. It captures the esscence of the film without watching the film itself. But it feels like the joker will just walk into the room at any moment.

Buy this soundtrack it rivals any soundtrack I have heard and I own about 30 or so...

have a couple cassette tapes of cheap studio time-love the earthiness of his sound. you can hear the steel drums and the rushing of the dunns river falls in his music. this cd is too cleaned up. no rasta here, mon. guess i need to find his older stuff for the sound i crave.
