Good cuts. But without the movie to place the music into action they are just songs. Good songs. But played with the images and dialogue and they were worth buying. Played without. . . .better to go to Ebay and get the only the ones you want.

This album is wonderful, Marvin is a master... he always creates something different, inovating the music. The arrangement is magnificent, rich in details. Marvin creates a magical and loving atmosphere and elevates the music to other higher ground. I Want you, the main track, has here many wonderful versions, each one reveals new details and sounds that many times are imperceptible. All tracks are full of romantic and sensual mood. A Great album of a Great Genius. Well done Marvin!

Although they had played on thousands of records for Motown, until the documentary film Standing In The Shadows Of Motown in 2002 few had heard of the Funk Brothers by name, and even fewer knew the names of the master musicians who did so much to create the identity of Motown from the snake pit at the Hitsville Studio in Detroit throughout the sixties. Until Marvin Gaye insisted on having them credited on his album What's Going On in 1970, their names had apparently never even appeared on a Motown sleeve.
Names like bandleader and keyboard player Earl Van Dyke, bassist James Jamerson, guitarists Robert White, Joe Messina and Eddie Willis, and drummers Benny Benjamin, Pistol Allen and Uriel Jones, to mention a few, are gradually seeping into ... Read More:

Billboard Top Rock & Roll Hits: 1970 offers ten hot hits that made the airwaves sizzle back in 1970! This surely brings back many fond memories for me; I love this older rock music. Hopefully it will bring back great memories for the people who first heard these tunes on the radio; and newcomers to this style of music would do well to consider this fine CD.
The Shocking Blue kick off the track set of hits with their smash hit entitled "Venus." "Venus" has a great guitar solo and the percussion, drums and more carry the bulk of the musical arrangement. They play and sing this song so well it makes me wanna dance every time I hear it! Awesome! Listen also for "Mama Told Me (Not To Come)" by Three Dog Night. Three Dog Night does an awesome job ... Maybe he was too was messed up on coke or whatever... who knows. There are only 3 good songs on this album: Common Man, My Whole Life Ended & Walk Away From Love. It seems like after he did "Walk Away From Love," which was produced by Van McCoy best known for "Do The Hustle," he got carried away and did like 10 songs that mimick "Walk Away From Love." They are all on this album & none of them are any good, in my opinion. David Ruffin had one of the greatest voices of his generation, but as a soloist, he seemingly made bad creative choices and never had the good material to work with that he had with The Temptations.

I bought this album nearly two weeks ago, after having heard that it was worth finding, but not really knowing anything about it. I had previously only known a few Syreeta tracks, mainly the two tracks from her 1968 Gordy single (under the name Rita Wright), and the classic track "Harmour Love". I love her crystal-clear, sweet and soulful voice, and thought it would be worth my while to try this CD.
From the opening beats of "I Love Every Little Thing About You", I knew I was in for a treat. This CD, which has both Syreeta's debut album, and the follow-up "Stevie Wonder Presents..." is nothing short of a sonic revelation. It has been a long, long time, since I have been so moved and inspired by a single CD, but this album delivers in excess. Following ... Read More:

Rhino's DISCO BOX can easily be dismissed as incomplete due to the fact that there are no Bee Gees cuts (hey record companies will not let Rhino license EVERYTHING), and 95% of the songs are presented in their AM-radio 7" 45 R.P.M. lengths. However, with the dazzling array of material here and the very infomative and colorful 60-page booklet, the folks at Rhino have done an excellent job in capturing this important musical genre. Think of this stellar collection as a supplement to your Saturday Night Fever soundtrack.
