This CD brings back so many memories. I have listened to this more than once since my purchase and there are a few songs that I like to hear over and over! This is one of the best collections I have seen in quite some time. If you are a Four Tops fan, then this is the one to buy!

Tracks 1 to 6 are the debut album "Get Ready" issued August 1969 on Rare Earth RS-507
(Tracks 7 to 15 are BONUS single versions from the various 5 studio albums)
Track 7 is "Generation (Light Up The Sky)" which is the A side of Rare Earth 5010 issued November 1969 - also on the O.S.T. to the film "Generation"
Track 8 is "Get Ready" the 7" single edit issued April 1970 on Rare Earth 5012
(the single edit is 2:50 minutes long, while the full album version takes up all of Side 2 at 21:35 minutes)

My 4 year old son loves to dance to the music. We turn it on almost every night and dance to at least 2 or 3 songs. I think is should be priced cheaper for as long as it's been out, but it was worth my money.

I Love Rock & Roll: Hits of the '60s, Vol. 2 has some pretty smart sounding rock tunes from the remarkable 1960s. The sound quality is very good and I like the different artists they put on this album. The artwork is also nicely done.

"All Day And All Of The Night" starts it off with The Kinks doing their usual great job on this hot song. The modulations between major and minor keys blow me away and the lyrics sure are cool! Jefferson Airplane's "Somebody To Love" has a great late `60s feel that always makes me smile when I hear it; and The Byrds do their awesome "Turn! Turn! Turn! (To Everything There Is A Season)." When purchasing a compilation, often there can be a content vs. audio quality consideration. That is definitely the case here, as this CD has a decent tracklist, but the audio quality is not up to par with several other available compilations.

The audio on this 2004 release is identical to that on the new 2008, complete five studio album (Get Ready, Ecology, One World, Willie Remembers & Ma, plus singles and rare tracks) Hip-O set, Fill Your Head: The Studio Albums 1969-1974. However, neither of these choices will get you the best audio versions of Rare Earth material.

For that, look to these three CD's: The Millennium Collection, The Very Best Of & Ma. All of these discs have superior remastered sound to this "Collection" ... Read More:

The Supremes were a phenomonem. There were many other "girl singing groups" but none had the longevity or chart impact of the Supremes. This compilation is a solid reflection of the quality Motown sound they produced. Their music is still fresh and relevant today, which is reflected by the use of their song "Your love is like an itching in my heart" being used by Steely Dan in their live shows. Well crafted songs sung by very talented singers.

In my opinion, (surely due to strong bias because I have been listening to this album since I was a little girl) this album/DVD contains some of the absolute best versions of Billie Holiday songs ever recorded. Diana Ross exquisitely captured the perfect tempo(i), inflection, phrasing, and dynamics for every song (not to mention her incredible acting performance as well.) The movie is one that I can watch over and over and over again and always be captivated.
