Purchasing this CD sure brought back some memories. When I had borrowed the vinyl version of this Sdtk from a friend many years ago, I had no idea that there was extra minutes of music cut out. With this CD you get to hear that little bit that you didn't here when the original sdtk came out. If you liked the movie, why not go ahead and get the CD?

"Fulfillingness' First Finale" does not get the recognition it deserved. While "Innervisions" and "Songs In The Key of Life" were both brilliant 5-star worthy masterpieces, neither of them come close to the beauty that is "Fulfillingness' First Finale."

Of all the records Motown put out during its existence, none have the amount of soul that is found in this album. The songs range from moody and melancholy to cheerful and uplifting, although the tempo is relatively slow and soothing through the whole album.

"Smile Please," the album's first song, sets the tone for the whole album, and is one of the best openers of Wonder's career. The keyboarding and vocals are slow and smooth, with moody but uplifting lyrics. The song ... Read More:

As much as I love Stevie Wonder as an artist, it's almost impossible to buy every last album he's ever released. Not only that, it would be way too costly to attempt (though I would say every 70s album SHOULD be bought). This set is the epitome of what a compilation set should be -- virtually every meaningful song he has made over his vast career. Highly recommended to anyone who wants to know what Stevie was about in one stop.

Music from this era had to truly be inspired. It is music that all generations like to hear; music that will always be around. this particular recording is still being played, the words are relavent to today, and the music is still soul stirring. the new stuff, will pass on, and no one will hardly remember the words, but this is stuff that will last.

After three mediocore albums in the 1990s. Michael McDonald chose to go back to his roots. Having been a long time admire of Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye as well as other artists he seems to top the originals.
Despite the fact that following the release of this album he had been ridiculed on TV (Family Guy), moviesThe 40-Year-Old Virgin (Unrated Full Screen Edition) and the popular Internet series Yacht Rock he doesn't seem to mind at all and that's why he did a second one. Don't let the cover fool you, there is an earlier American pressing.

There's not much to say about this album, but it was a perfect Christmas gift for my mom. I grew up listening to these tunes and I'll continue to listen to them for the rest of my life. Although this doesn't COMPLETELY sum up the 60s, it does a good job providing you with the big hits.

I have the recent Marvin Gaye Deluxe remasters of What's Going On; Let's Get It On and I Want You.
I don't have anything earlier though and Disc 1 of this set is perfect for me and I like having Disc 2 anyway.
Disc 1 has all the early hits before Marvin took total charge of his career and recordings. All the early hits are here and nicely mastered.

I Have many of the "GOLD" sets and I appreciate them. Yes, sometimes they are a repackage of an existing sets (see Yes: Gold) but other sets are pretty unique and very necessary.

If you need a good Marvin Gaye Compilation this is where to start.

Some of Marvin's greatest work! This is a good CD for easy listening. Back when music meant so much. I grew up listening to REAL music like this.
