You could categorize this as a 'tough' listen because the theme is heartbreak. But that doesn't take away from the fact that this is an amazing listen, especially the alternate version. I'm not going to get into the theme since it has been so adequately described in so many of the other reviews.

Gaye had this ability to take events happening to him and around him and shape them into classic soul songs and Here, My Dear is no exception. The music is downbeat but there is a general groove running the length of the album. And once you put it on it's really hard to turn it off.

Any lover of Motown, Marvin Gaye, or soulful music has to have this CD compilation. The recording and sound transfer does justice to Gaye's clear vocals. Besides having all the essential hits "What's Going on?", "I Heard it Through the Grapevines", etc. it has two additional gems that you won't find anywhere else. There is a beautiful rendition of "You Are Everything" that Marvin did with Diana Ross and a very rare Marvin Gaye cover of "Abraham & Martin & John" which is the best version of the song I have ever heard. Even if you have all of Marvin Gaye's hits on other collections, buy this disc if only for those two inclusions. Just wonderful!

i'm a long-term dina ross fan & just the discovery of un-released material "tweeks" my ear-drums. however i must say that if you don't care for her enormous talent@ all then you wouldn't like blue which is a nice testament to her adaptations of jazz standards from the sizzling seventies!!!!!

This 2006 HIP-O SELECT CD remaster replicates exactly in card form the album "1990" by The Temptations originally issued December 1973 in the USA on Tamla Motown's Gordy 966 (Tamla Motown STMA 016 in the UK).

All 7 tracks (37:36 minutes) were written and produced by NORMAN WHITFIELD and are in the same vein as the "Masterpiece" and "All Directions" albums that preceded it featuring songs similar to "Papa Was A Rolling Stone" and "Law Of The Land" - great funky soul meets emerging social conscience. Personally it's a period of The Temptations catalogue that I dig so much more than the Sixties stuff.

Marvin and Tammi sing like they were born to sing together. When I was younger and more romantic, I used to hate to hear him sing by himself.

This is everything that Marvin and Tammi recorded in one two CD package. I wish there was some record of their live performances and I also wish there was some video here. Otherwise, very well done.

The track listing and features for My Girl: The Very Best...is the exact same as the Temptations Gold album. Only, Gold is a few dollars cheaper. Get that one and save yourself some money. This is very odd for the same album to be packaged two different ways.

As far as the music: it's the Temptations and the music is really good. The latter end of the second cd lags due to the unmistakable and dated 80s sound.

I'll give a more in depth review for the Gold album. I just wanted to warn people this is a more expensive version of an album that already exists.

yes this is another collection of Jackson five/Michael Jackson Best of collection but this one includes the big,Big Hits. the ones everybody knows. all the way from childhood through Adulthood. Michael Jackson always had that the Genius in him and his Music is timeless. his vocal instrument is a Worldly Signature that has touched many souls through years, decades and era's.etc.... so many classic songs. a great time of music.

Another enjoyable, hit-filled album of classic R&B. Here the big hits were the pseudo-rocker "(I Know) I'm Losing You", propelled by its circular riff and tenor harmonies, later covered by Rod Stewart; "All I Need", which is enjoyable but rudimentary pop-soul; Eddie Kendricks' smooth, beautiful ballad "You're My Everything", and the painfully over-dramatic "(Loneliness Made Me Realize) It's You I Need", interestingly one of my least favorites. And like most of the classic, proto "psychedelic soul" LP's, the album tracks are far from toss-offs - the driving "Ain't No Sun Since You've Been Gone" and dramatic, gospel influenced (love Paul Williams' vocal!)
