This IS my favorite CD today. It should be featured and played for school children studying blues ...A perfect example of quality interpretation of
"blues roots music".
Release Date July 12, 2005
This review was accidentally placed on the wrong CD (Best of Zucchero), but it rightfully goes with this CD (Zucchero and Co.)! (please forgive) (However,The Best of Zucchero is also ONE GREAT CD and is highly recommended !)
Well, if you love the blues, or an updated/different version thereof, and if you love love songs, you will love this CD ! Whether you can speak Italian or not, who cares...they are love songs, make up your own words ! lol I bought this CD just for one song, Cosi Celeste (she's my baby) but have fallen in love with the entire CD...and Zucchero too I might add ! I discovered him through my love of Cheb Mami and wanted She's My Baby done by both of them, hence this CD was purchased. That song is mesmerizing and Cheb's ... Read More:

Johnny Winter was signed to Columbia Records in 1968 and for the next decade or so sold a lot of records, beat a harrowing addiction to Heroin, and helped ressurect Muddy Waters' post-Chess career producing the blues giant's superb, final three albums. Sony has remastered Winter's eponymous debut, and issued a 'deluxe' edition of 1969's "Second Winter" (also issued on gold disc by Mobile Fidelity). "...And", Winter's third release, from 1970, somehow has fallen through the cracks. Fans already know that after the McCoys ('Hang On Sloopy', among other hits) broke up
Winter hired the group - most importantly guitarist/producer Rick Derringer - to form And. This album is harder rocking, the blues sublimated within a Stones-like soundscape. ... Read More:

Nice cross section of this outstanding telecaster master. Great renditions of 'sweet dreams' and 'the messiah will come again' and a nice edgy version of 'hey joe'. All in all a good listen.
Release Date July 22, 2003
If I were to ask someone, in the year 2008, to name a male folk singer from the 1960's I would assume that if I were to get an answer to that question that the name would be Bob Dylan. And that would be a good and appropriate choice. One can endlessly dispute whether or not Dylan was (or wanted to be) the voice of the Generation of '68 but in terms of longevity and productivity he fits the bill as a known quality. However, there were a slew of other male folk singers who tried to find their niche in the folk milieu and who, like Dylan, today continue to produce work and to perform. The artist under review Chris Smithers is one such singer/songwriter.
I do not know if Chris Smithers, like his contemporary Bob Dylan, started out wanting to ... Read More:

Debbie Davies has released many CDs over the years, but this one clearly stands out. Often these types of CDs, which involve a 'Who's Who' of contemporary blues artists, do not live up to expectations -- this one is definitely an exception. Put Davies together with Musselwhite, Benoit, and Montoya and sparks fly. Debbie wrote 4 of the 9 songs, while the rest are covers. The 'A.C. Strut' with Coco Montoya is a tribute to Debbie's mentor, Albert Colins, and it really rocks. Listen to Musselwhite on 'Movin' and Groovin' and you will soon understand why he is often referred to as "the Dean of Blues Harmonica" -- outstanding. Tab does a great rendition of Hooker's 'Crawling King Snake' with his Louisiana swamp style, as he is joined by Debbie. On 'Sonoma Sunset,' ... Read More:

THIS IS NOT ONLY THE BEST BLUES FROM ONE OF ITS BEST BLUESMAN, BUT IT IS ALSO A HISTORY OF B.B. FROM START TILL NOW. THE BOOK IT COMES WITH IS OUTSTANDING
Release Date August 17, 1998
This is my first Jeff Healey CD, so I can't say if its really "the best" of JH, but it's all good. I think covers of Badge, Yer Blues, and especailly While my Guitar Gently Weeps are excellent. The other covers and original works are very good. I play a little guitar and can appreciate his style. I guess I'll have to buy some other albums to see if other reviewers are right about others being better. But don't hesitate to buy this one.
Release Date October 25, 1990
I'm 59 years old and somehow I missed Albert Collins and that I regret. I recently heard an Albert Collins song on KCUV, a Denver radio station and I couldn't believe my ears. I had to have some of his music. What a great blues guitarist and "Ice Pickin" is a superb CD. If you decide to get some Collins, get "Ice Pickin" for sure then get some more. You won't be disappointed.

Having been a HUGE fan of Buddy, I for some reason past this album over. No real reason, it just got put to the back burner. Well, its now been about 7 years since it's release and I have finally gotten around to purchasing this one. ... HOLY CRAP!! It is super-fantastic!. I am ashamed it took me that long to pick this album up, and upset with myself at the same time. How could I allow an album of this calibur to set on the back burner for so long. I had heard it was a good album, but had no idea ... It is that good. If you are gonna buy it, well open up cause. Hot fudge is comming on in. Good Lord!
