This cd was not what I expected. Poorly engineered and lackluster performances by two Hammond B-3 giants. I had the album years ago, so maybe my tastes have changed.
Release Date August 31, 2004
Another fabulous album from the standards trio. The recordings were made in 2001 and clearly Jarrett is fully recovered from his illness of the late 90's as the inspiration level remains incredibly high throughout.
The 'standards' here are all very good, but the main reason to buy this recording is the great title track. This runs to nearly 20 minutes and runs through a number of styles, the dominant one being a long bluesy improvisation 6 minutes into the track.
Its difficult to rank this in the huge number of albums that the standards trio have produced over the years, but if you can only buy one, then this is as good as anything.

I have heard so many imitations of Grover - they sound fake. Listen artists - stop trying to sound like Grover Washington Jr. He has a unique sound unlike any other. He is in this class all by himself.
Release Date September 26, 1995
I don't understand the reviews of this album. Jaco was an amazing jazz bassist. But he is so overshadowed by all the brass instruments on this album that the end result is painful to listen to. I counted on the CD insert four trumpets, four sax, four trombones, plus a french horn or two. I doubt he was happy with the end result, I hope it didn't add to his life ending pain. Bill M.

This album really shows just how well Bobby McFerrin and Chick Corea exchanges ideas. This is a must have to any fan of Vocal performances and a little bonus for any Chick Corea collector!

I awoke one morning to the sound of Nnenna's version of The Tracks Of My Tears. I was riveted. I'd heard that song many times over the years but never had I heard it put down the way Nnenna did it. Needless to say I bought the cd. The entire cd is good listening. She has a unique style. My other favorite track is Blue . . .

Jazz is one of those genres that thrives on live recordings. Some of the most exciting music in the relatively brief history of jazz has been recorded in concert.
This album stands among the absolute best live jazz ever captured on a soundboard. Oscar was in his prime during the early 60's, a virtuoso who could go from brutally fast swing to gentle, melancholy blues at the drop of a hat. His mastery of dynamics is very much evident on this album.
Peterson was lucky to be backed by Ray Brown on bass and Ed Thigpen on drums. I mean, could someone ask for a better pair to round out a trio? Having this much talent on one stage is a treat for the ears.
The rendition of "Chicago" on this album is THE best interpretation of the song I've ever heard. ... Read More:

Wow. I sat in with a jazz trio the other night and the piano player said he really liked this albumn. I knew it had to be good because he liked it and there was no piano on the recording. Plus I read the glowing reviews! Still, I couldn't believe how good this was, and this is my 10th or so Jim Hall albumn! You can hear where Kurt Rosenwinkel and Pat Metheny got some ideas from this one. I can't believe how modern this sounds for 1975. Every tune has something going on to make it special, and Jim's shows some serious technique also. I'd like to mention that if you don't own Concierto yet you definitely should get that Now. Some of my other fav's are "By Arrangement", "Alone Together", and this hard to find rare albumn called "Something Special" which is an awesome cd I found used ... Read More:

I love the music on this album. The sound is so warm and inviting, I always want to turn up the volume and immerse myself completely in the music. But unfortunately if I do that I hear the noisy hiss, especially anytime the guitar's playing. I don't mind the background noise (glasses jingling, etc.) from the club, to me that just adds atmosphere. But the noisy hiss on the guitar is a bummer. Anyway, that's just a nitpick. The album is great, I'm very glad to own it. I just listen to it with the volume at moderate level or else with the treble turned down or else with the volume cranked but listening to it from the next room. Still, if one of these days someone found a way to rerelease this album with a cleaned-up sound, I'd be very grateful!
