The sound quality is not the best, but for a live recording of that era, it might be as good or better than average. It isn't a large band, and all the instruments are clearly audible. The dynamics are a bit constrained, but nothing like the over-compressed pop music being released nowadays.

The music outweighs any concerns about sound quality. This is an incredible band. Metheny, Mays, Pastorius, Alias, Brecker -- how can one find complaint with this backup??? On Dry Cleaner From Des Moines, Michael Brecker tears up the stage! And Jaco drives the song with machine gun bass lines. I'm very glad to be contributing to such a noble cause by buying this wonderful live cd. Greg does not disappoint with his signature earthy, sometimes croony baritone. God I love those low notes! I definitely recommend buying this to one, add a beloved musician's live concert to your library, and two, to help donate to the cause of keeping the Yellow Dog River clean from the impending sulfide mining threat. All thumbs up for this project. Thanks Greg!

If he releases the song, it's a keeper, for sure. He's written some of the best Texas music out there, including "LA Freeway" and "Desperadoes Waiting for a Train" which appear on this CD.

This live CD is well engineered. Kudos to whoever was at the boards. The sound's really good. But, the best part of Guy Clark live is hearing him tell the stories that come with the songs and there's just not enough of that here.

I love Guy Clark, but his voice sounds like a mile or so of bad Texas road in parts of this collection. Even with above average sound quality and me knowing the lyrics, I had a couple of moments where I was wondering what the heck was sung.

i was introduced to John Prine by my father when i was wee lad of 6 or 7. My sister and I loved the humor of Bruised Orange. As I matured I discovered the depth of his lyrics and i bought this album for my Dad when i was about 15. Its hard to put into words what Prine is seemingly effortlessly able to convey through his at once simple yet incredibly deep lyrics. This album pairs it down to the simple basics. Lyrically he is my all time favorite. Gut wrenching yet accesible stories about the dark, light and truthful epic that is our lives. Im shocked there are only a handfull of reviews to this testament to sheer lyrical brilliance. Dougie McLean always leaves me satisfied, musically speaking. His voice has matured over the years as has his musical style. On his live album his humor and passion comes through in a way a studio recording cannot. This purchase was not for me however, but for my son. He recently turned 40 and I went for an all too rare visit. As we drove down the back roads of South Carolina in a day trip adventure (no we were NOT lost, just exploring) we got into a discussion of favorite music. I found out he had never heard Dougie MacLean so I knew I needed to remedy that right away. Here is to getting lost...er I mean exploring on back roads and listening to good music.
