i was introduced to John Prine by my father when i was wee lad of 6 or 7. My sister and I loved the humor of Bruised Orange. As I matured I discovered the depth of his lyrics and i bought this album for my Dad when i was about 15. Its hard to put into words what Prine is seemingly effortlessly able to convey through his at once simple yet incredibly deep lyrics. This album pairs it down to the simple basics. Lyrically he is my all time favorite. Gut wrenching yet accesible stories about the dark, light and truthful epic that is our lives. Im shocked there are only a handfull of reviews to this testament to sheer lyrical brilliance. I first heard Bromberg's music on a friend's album, and was wowed by I Will Not Be Your Fool. Bought the cassette and listened to it for years. But now its started to show its age and I decided to buy the CD

Well, two CDs actually. They showed up yesterday and I eagerly opened them and gave a listen. Oh my. First of all, Fool has been edited, and the ending is not the same as the one on the cassette. Several lesser songs have been added so they could make this a 2 CD set. And there is something different about several of the songs, as if they substituted a different band for this recording (The cover says no, but it sounds quite different to me).

If he releases the song, it's a keeper, for sure. He's written some of the best Texas music out there, including "LA Freeway" and "Desperadoes Waiting for a Train" which appear on this CD.

This live CD is well engineered. Kudos to whoever was at the boards. The sound's really good. But, the best part of Guy Clark live is hearing him tell the stories that come with the songs and there's just not enough of that here.

I love Guy Clark, but his voice sounds like a mile or so of bad Texas road in parts of this collection. Even with above average sound quality and me knowing the lyrics, I had a couple of moments where I was wondering what the heck was sung.

i grew up with this album on a cassette, in my dad's car. With my parents seperated, my dad would pick me up from my mother's every few days and we'd just kind of escape and hang out, and this is the album that was always playing in the car. i can sing the entire album in my sleep, and it is very dear to me. you can sense sebastian's purity and his funny interactions with the crowd make you wish you were there. There are some incredibly funny moments between songs, and its shows how well this musician can connect to his audience. featuring old 50s rock tunes, some country-esque beats and general folk songs this is an ideal acoustic album. i fell in love with this fun album. you will too!

We find The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, at the top of their game, in-front of a happy crowd that are soakin' all this Music in. During their 25th year Anniversity, they are out on tour, business as usual. But what business this is: "Mr. Bojangles","Make A Little Magic", "Fishin' In The Dark","You Ain't Goin' Nowhere" , "High Horse", "Dance Little Jean", "Ripplin' Water" and "I've Been Lookin'. DVD is great too, less so when the French narrator talks over her performance.
