This is a wonderful Leonard Cohen CD. If you don't know the artist, this is a good introduction. If you are familiar with Leonard Cohen, then this is a must-have for your collection. Well done and classic.

Nanci's One Fair Summer Evening is just great. For a woman with such a tiny speaking voice, she can and does show her talent with this live album. Some of the songs are a little quirky but thats why I like it so much. I dont know what Anderson Fair really looks like because I live in Australia and my visits to Texas on different occasions got only as far as San Antonio and Dallas but feel like I am taking a little 'spin on the red brick floor' whn I listen to this album. if you don't have it in your collection, you should.

Since Dan died in December, I have ordered all of Dan's CD's from Amazon.com that I did not own. I just received the Live "Something Old, New, Borrowed, And Some Blues" and it's fantastic!! I especially love the Live versions of "Song Bird" and "The Innocent Age". "Here Comes the Sun" which is also great, closes the CD and it is so sad to hear Dan Say "See you next summer" when we all know now that will never happen. This is a must for any music lover. Buy it now!!!

For me, a 50 something, this was a great trip down memory lane. People forget how funny PP&M were in their concerts; there is a lot of good comedy here as well as great music. This was originally recorded in 1964, how can I put this gently.. while their voices were still good and pure. If you grew up on folk/folk-rock in the 60s this is for you.

Hopefully this is the first release of many more to come. thompson and the band are in fine form. if you like richard & linda thompson, this is a must. my only complaint is that the accordion is a little too loud.
sometimes it even drowns out thompsons guitar.(just listen to "night comes in"). I hope they will pay more attention to the mix for future releases.

I'm one of those listeners who gave up on Dylan after he went electric. Well, I did drift back with Nashville Skyline, but after that it was all work and no play for both Dylan and me. After seeing the excellent exhibit at the Morgan Library in New York City, I realized I just need more of that early Bob. (I did listen into the 1961 Carnegie Hall concert which they had at the show, and that's what really made me say, "You gotta find some of that early, wonderful, brilliant Bobby D.")
The other day I wandered into Starbucks in Charlottesville, and there was a pile of this particular recording, and I bought one for the long ride north. What a pleasure. So why give it only four stars? I've heard that wonderful recording from 1961 with the chatter ... Read More:

In 1978 I saw Bob Dylan for the first time on his first night at Earl's Court London. A few weeks later I saw him at Blackbush Airport with 250,000 others. The music he played was basically the same as this album. I loved it then, I love it now. I love the reggae beat on Knocking on Heaven's door. So the critics didn't like the arrangements on this album, well all my friends went to these concerts and almost of all of us felt they were some of the best moments of our lives and were lucky to be there.
This album contains the spirit of those great nights in 1978.

I knew very little of Joan's voice and talent. My husband selected and purchased this album. What a wonderful discovery I've made. The more I play this album, the more I enjoy it. Joan has her best known songs on this album but it is the heart she puts into all of the songs that show her voice to it's best advantage. Relax, and listen to this exceptional album.

I think this is a case of "you had to be there". If you remember the Weavers, and remember the influence they weilded, and remember them being blacklisted during the McCarthy era, you'll probably impose a lot of memories onto this average quality recording and enjoy it immensely. I don't remember any of that. I grew up when folk music was popular, not a dangerous political statement, so this just seemed like any other recording of people singing folk songs. I forget how much it cost, but I definitely got my money's worth.
Release Date September 05, 1995
This album contains mostly all songs from the first two studio albums. The sounds are remarkably fresh and the sound quality is exceptional. I srongly advise purchasing this collection, especially if you're not a Shawn Colvin fan.
