This is gives a pretty faithful idea of what a show of Tim Buckleys was like at the Troubadour. Yes, I saw him at least a half a dozen times - I really can't remember the number. This CD showcases many of his staple songs, leading to long vocal virtuoso singing almost with jazz scatting leanings. You can really hear the playfulness he displayed live.
The only thing I miss in this is his earlier simpler presentation. I remember the best shows as just being himself on guitar, Mr. Carter on the Congas and other percussion, and this fabulous vibraphonist. Nope, I dont remember his name. I have yet to hear this vibraphonist on any recording, but I really thought that he was an important element in making the ethereal and almost ... Read More:

I love this album because it brought back memories of my attending the Festival. It's a great way to discover a lot of new (and old) people such as John Prine, Mollie O'Brien, Richard Thompson, Ramblin' Jack Elliott and so many others. I realize that space was at a premium but I'm sorry Judy Roderick (who was a wonderful blues singer and very big in Philly) and the Greenbriar boys were left out. John Prine's Hello, in There and Richard Thompson's Beeswing are wonderful. In fact, the latter version is more haunting (if it's possible) than the recorded version and the song never fails to make me cry. Thompson is brilliant.
Even if you've never attended the Festival, it is worth getting for the joyous music on it.

Jonatha kicks serious ass!! she is one of my favorite solo artists, she and others have changed the way I approached. I love how passionate and truthful she is. It's proven on this cd.
If you're new to Jonatha, get this Live cd and Ten Cent Wings to start.
Her music has kind of dwindled lately, but I hope she gets back on track.

This spectacular 2CD gem captures Laura Nyro's amazing vocals, piano playing and the song list includes many of her social causes. "Lite A Flame" and "Wild Word" wonderfully showcase her strong committment to animal rights and why we must respect nature. She also sings tunes regarding spirituality, the plight of native Indians, love and loss and feminism. Laura Nyro was incredibly talented and she was a vintage writer, composer, vocalist and musician. It must be noted that her best records were live performances such as the 1993 and 1994 Christmas Eve concerts on these discs. God Bless her benevolent soul.

What a great CD!! These guys are funny and personable -- oh, and they're great musicians too! I highly recommend this album to anyone who enjoys foot-stompin' music mixed in with a little knee-slappin' humor.

Okay, this is not a review of the music, since there are plenty of those here already. What I have a problem with is in the manufacturing process. Like another reviewer noted, this CD does not play well on my pc. Odd, for a digital format...
Secondly, when I do open it on my pc I get an annoying macromedia flash window of self promotion.
Thirdly, and my biggest complaint, is that I cannot load this onto my ipod. I'm sure there is a workaround, but I'm not proficient enough on a computer to know what it is.
I understand that artists need to protect their works against piracy and illegal filesharing, but if I spend my money on a product with an already inflated price I should be able to listen to it the way I want. It is no wonder then that consumers get ... Read More:
