This is by far the best of the live recordings to be released by the king of the parrotheads. It was recorded before being politically and legally correct was the thing to do. He has fun with the audience and does not feel morally wrong to mention use of controlled substances, although in an amusing way. This also contains the only version of "The Bear" I have heard. This song alone is worth the price.

A nice Capital reissue of "The Beach Boys In Concert, excellent linear notes, a nice sounding remastered edition. Like other reviews have stated, if you own one Beach Boys Live recording let it be "The Beach Boys In Concert". I'm not crazy about live concert recordings but "The Beach Boys In Concert" has some shining moments even without Brian Wilson present. Original Beach Boy members, Mike Luv, Alan Jardine, Carl and Dennis Wilson prove that even without Brian they have talent as live performers. Carl even performs some cuts from the famed "Carl And The Passions" lp. The Beach Boys were really at a very creative chapter in their careers. Brian Wilson did contribute to all Beach Boy releases during this era of their careers, he was still batteling ... Read More:

Review # 32. I've been wanting this CD for ages. Recorded at the Royal Albert Hall on December 12, 1969. 'Caught Live + 5' just shows us how far ahead of their time the Moody Blues actually were. So many fantastic art rock, progressive (whatever you wish to call it) vintage tunes here - several I simply do not remember. It was great hearing the beautifully played "Dr. Livingston, I Presume", the catchy "Never Comes The Day", the inventive "Peak Hour", "Tuesday Afternoon", "Are You Sitting Comfortably?" {great flute playing}, "Nights In White Satin", the trippy "Legend Of A Mind" and "Ride My See Saw". Plus, the five extra studio cuts are nice as well - liked "Please Think About It" and the well played "Long Summer Days" the best. A must have.

Live albums. Some artists shine. The live recordings show why they are so popular when they hit the road. Others should run screaming when their record label or their manager suggests a live project! Springsteen is one of the former. He and his band have always had a reputation as a killer live act. Live 1975-1985 shows that their reputation is well deserved.
By the time these cds were released just before Xmas, 1986, Springsteen had made seven records, including one double. This is sixteen sides of music. Each was a classic. There are about forty songs on this live collection. If you subtract five non-Springsteen songs we are left with thirty-five live songs. That would be about two songs for each LP side! Thus, these three discs should contain la crème de la crème. ... Read More:

I was at the series of shows from 1986 where this album was made. I couldn't wait for it to come out. Part of the problem is false advertising. While most of this was recorded at the Greek Theatre in 1986, some of it was from the Mountain View Music Theatre in northern California.
I give it two stars only because it does capture the feel of a Diamond concert just a bit. Still, other than, I am I Said, Cherry Cherry, and Hello Again, the songs are simply butchered. To make it worse, the album is poorly mixed.
If you want later Diamond live material, checi out "Greatest Hits 1966-1992, or Stages. Avoid "Live From America" like the plague.

I beg to differ from some reviewers that the live renditions of some of the tracks on this LP are better than the studio versions. Some are, maybe but not all and this album definitely has its moments but is a bit overrated I think compared with subsequent live concerts the band did. I had the good fortune of seeing them live in 1985 and was sorry that the 1985-86 tour was never brought out on DVD or CD.
Part one of 'Alchemy' is tedious. Too slow in the main, the instrumentals ramble at times and the weakest track on the set 'Love Over Gold' (which was not included on the vinyl version of the album) should have been left off - the original studio version of this track was definitely better; ditto 'Romeo & Juliet' which also drags on. By far the best cut on the first disc ... Read More:

Since Dan died in December, I have ordered all of Dan's CD's from Amazon.com that I did not own. I just received the Live "Something Old, New, Borrowed, And Some Blues" and it's fantastic!! I especially love the Live versions of "Song Bird" and "The Innocent Age". "Here Comes the Sun" which is also great, closes the CD and it is so sad to hear Dan Say "See you next summer" when we all know now that will never happen. This is a must for any music lover. Buy it now!!!
