"Irish Tour" was essentially Rory's "Frampton Comes Alive" moment. FM "AOR" ("Album Oriented Radio") stations grabbed on to this one and would not let go. The 10 minute live version of "A Million Miles Away" accounted for the majority of airplay, especially on San Francisco's legendary station KSAN.
The album begins with a tightly-wound guitar riff that has more than a little Angus Young around the edges: "Cradle Rock" is one part roadhouse blues, one part arena rock, and a great opener.
"I Wonder Who" offers more blues, featuring a call-and-response tease of a minute or so between Rory's vocal and his guitar, before the band slowly joins the song. At the 1:45 mark, everyone's on board. Over the course of 8 minutes, ... Read More:

Hot on the heels of two acclaimed studio albums, the trio of Geoff Barrow, Adrian Utley and singer Beth Gibbons toured the United States and in doing so worked with an orchestra and horns for a live release.
It is often thought that electronic music is difficult to capture outside a studio, but "Live: Roseland NYC" is at the very least an exception. Whilst many critics have said Portishead's releases are too similar to each other, a good listen to "Live: Roseland NYC" with reveal a great many surprises about how Portishead adapt their songs to a concert setting. Contrary to what some might expect all the samples of their studio work are present, notably on "Only You" where they are used to create a crescendo effect in the middle of the ... Read More:

The best part about this live album is the Bonus DVD that comes with it. It includes 4 bonus videos, including Lukey - which was done w/ the Chieftains. It was that video on YouTube that got me started loving Great Big Sea, and it's on this DVD. Beyond that, it's a fantastic cross-section of their best songs, along with some that aren't as well known. These guys are so much fun to watch and listen to; and this album/DVD is a great way to do it.

Guns N' Roses-Live:Era '87-'93 *****
Depending on where you find it Live:Era can run you a pretty penny. Well it is worth the price of admission. As the title suggest it takes performances from all around the globe from 1987 through 1993 when the band was on their Lose Your Illusions tour.
Slash, Izzy, and on a few tracks Gilby Clark play some killer guitar. Extended solos in some places and some all around impressive work always. Duff holds is own with Steven Adler and sometimes Matt Sorum. Axl's voice sounds pretty good through out and his interaction with the crowds is wonderful.
'Welcome To The Jungle' is done fantastic. The intro is classic. 'Dust N' Bones' kicks; Izzy dominates here. The fact that they didn't ... Read More:

This is one of the best live albums I've ever purchased and I think every one who likes pop/rock like Counting Crows should get themselves a copy, because the band's perfomance is extraordinary good - both of the performances!
It's a double live album which contains two live recordings from Vh1: Storytellers and a Mtv gig. The first is kind of an unplugged acoustic concert which is more quit and philosophic - also because of Adam's lyrical adds to the songs and the bands new interpretations of the songs. This is an individual decision if you like this or not, but I love it! The Mtv concert is more loud and the songs are more the ones you know from the albums, but still you feel the band's energy and you understand why they are such a popular live ... Read More:

I was at this concert, but I NEVER knew it was on CD and it was
a fabulous show !
With Quicksilver Messenger Service to boot.
Forget The Blues Brothers. Their performance is a throwaway and
even tho the entire Dead had the flu, it was still something
to see and experience after having gone to Winterland, pretty much
once week if not more than that for about 8 years.
I hope you're sittin down, because the regular price at Winterland for this period was $4.50-$5.00
Special shows like The Who were a whopping $20, as was The Last Waltz,
I think $35, maybe less.
I saw everyone who was anyone from 1970 to the closing, including "The Last Waltz", Peter Frampton, when "Frampton ... Read More:

I ordered this set yesterday, haven't gotten it yet but saw some of the videos from it on youtube, and I must say I wish I hadn't order it. The music is good, the female singers are really good but Snowey Shaw can not sing. He totally ruins the entire concert. What were they thinking. They should have stuck with the male singers in the Mexico set. I hope it is better than what I've seen or this one will be collecting dust on my DVD Rack. I took 3 Star's away because of Shaw, the rest is excellent.
