Czpunjvyl says: "Pretentious and halfway incomprehensible prose." Thompson says: "I completely agree. What a waste of space." Hustis says: "yea, pretty terrible indeed." Hey guys, thanks for the extra content, plz feel free to add some more, I'll be sure to add it to my next rant. Ever wonder why Guy Lombardo & the Royal Canadians got that long-running New Year's gig? 'Cause back in the day, they were the biggest, rowdiest party band of all time. Fistfights, drinking and blasting tunes all at the same time, they were the #1 group who could handle a New York New Year's crowd. Kinda reminds me of another hard-livin' hits machine. OK, boys, let's hear some more crap!

The best part about this live album is the Bonus DVD that comes with it. It includes 4 bonus videos, including Lukey - which was done w/ the Chieftains. It was that video on YouTube that got me started loving Great Big Sea, and it's on this DVD. Beyond that, it's a fantastic cross-section of their best songs, along with some that aren't as well known. These guys are so much fun to watch and listen to; and this album/DVD is a great way to do it.

For James Taylor lovers this set is heaven. The two CDs have a great variety of songs. There are JT's time honored favorites but then a few that aren't heard normally. However, the quality is unmatched. Even the backup singers for James Taylor have an unbelievable degree of talent. Some of the solo performaces will knock your socks off!

I also think this is overrated. Get YCDTOSA Vol 2 instead. 3 of the tracks are faded out. This is a remastered disc; the rest of those tracks should have been included when the 2lp set was released on CD. Also, Cheepnis was remixed, and it stands out from the rest of the disc by how much worse the sound is. I have no idea why they did that. The original is much better. Other than that, good performances and sound quality. But the remaster should have fixed those problems.

Like other reviewers here, I was disappointed that North America was not included in this tour; now, knowing what I missed, I'm practically devastated! Here it is -- the world's greatest band performing their own greatest music. Disc to disc, start to finish, it's a tour de force on every level: the performances, the sound, the video, and of course the music. With a heavy emphasis on live performances of songs from Abattoir Blues/Lyre of Orpheus, it's gripping, emotional, and (since the live band was fully instrumented, including the original gospel singers who performed on the studio records) jaw-droppingly satisfying.
With 2 DVDs and 2 CDs of top-notch material, this set is umatched in value, and there are really no weak spots. That said, DVD1 is the true ... Read More:

Very good Bonnie Raitt and excellent to have some of the top blues-rock friends to join her on this combo pack for cd and dvd.
Release Date November 10, 1998
Hot on the heels of two acclaimed studio albums, the trio of Geoff Barrow, Adrian Utley and singer Beth Gibbons toured the United States and in doing so worked with an orchestra and horns for a live release.
It is often thought that electronic music is difficult to capture outside a studio, but "Live: Roseland NYC" is at the very least an exception. Whilst many critics have said Portishead's releases are too similar to each other, a good listen to "Live: Roseland NYC" with reveal a great many surprises about how Portishead adapt their songs to a concert setting. Contrary to what some might expect all the samples of their studio work are present, notably on "Only You" where they are used to create a crescendo effect in the middle of the song.

I've been a fan of the Dead for some time, but had only a few albums by them: all studio, none live. I'd heard that this was thier best live effort, and while I have little basis for comparison, I can understand the sentiment. It is a marvelous live album, up there with James Brown at the Apollo, BB King at the Regal, and other now-classic live performances. The dual CD package includes some great bonus tracks, with a wonderful cover of 'Good Love', which is as good as the original cuts to make the album.

I was at this concert, but I NEVER knew it was on CD and it was
a fabulous show !
With Quicksilver Messenger Service to boot.
Forget The Blues Brothers. Their performance is a throwaway and
even tho the entire Dead had the flu, it was still something
to see and experience after having gone to Winterland, pretty much
once week if not more than that for about 8 years.
I hope you're sittin down, because the regular price at Winterland for this period was $4.50-$5.00
Special shows like The Who were a whopping $20, as was The Last Waltz,
I think $35, maybe less.
I saw everyone who was anyone from 1970 to the closing, including "The Last Waltz", Peter Frampton, when "Frampton Comes Alive" was ... Read More:
