I am a big John Mayer fan, however, this one is just ok.
The jams are a bit long and the sounds quality could use some refinement.
John has matured as an artist a great deal in the last five years since this recording. I much prefer his latest work and production.
He is still cool as sh---.

The SYR releases have been the mroe interesting ones of SonicYouth's output lately. Thsi at the same time as their mainstream stuff has become more "listenable". Anyway this is a great piece from them again improvising with amongst others Merzbow at the Roskilde festival. It is in the continuation of thier early stuff by adds other instruments which brigs quite a bit of positive change. At least with the SYR stuff the have allowed themselves not to be kept within the confines of their rather well-defined sound and genre.

1. The music on the CD and the DVD is flat-out wonderful. Heavy, constant rotation on the in-home and in-car music systems. Can't get Romeo and Juliet out of my head. Boulder to Birmingham and Red Dirt Girl are stunning. Get a towel for If This is Goodbye (and note the commentary on this tune in the DVD interview).

2. The DVD is more problematic. Great interview segment with Knopfler and Harris. Well produced, good commentary, a cool production space that it was shot in. A mix of points of view, video and stills and a well mixed audio track make it interesting and entertaining.

But the concert video, now that's a different story. It's clear that the production was done with good gear, you can occasionally see some of it moving around ... Read More:

I bought this set because of the rave reviews that went with it. And, because I had this snatch of memory from when I was young that I had wanted to buy this. Truthfully everyone, it's a disappointment. I have listened to it several times and while there are certainly songs that I like, and this is Clapton without all of the "maturity", the harmonies are usually bad (just shy of awful in some cases), the music does go on and it does, in hindsight, seem that they are in love with the new wa-wa pedal, amongst other sound enhancers.

I know, Clapton's God. But, I'm an agnostic. Slowhand is great, and the young years are better than most of the older years for originality, but it's not smooth, if that's what you need from a CD.

I love Harry Chapin and this is a great album, but be warned that this CD version is not the full album. It's missing two cuts: Love is Just Another Word, and She is Always Seventeen. I bought this to replace a cassette tape I have had forever and noticed that the number of tracks didn't match. Then I noticed a disclaimer in very small print that these two songs weren't included "due to time restrictions." Personally, I think this is a bit of a ripoff. To make matters even worse, neither of those songs is available as an MP3 download.

I came across this by accident while searching for another band. Twenty nine tracks, and at least 27 are brilliant. Everyone in my family loves this album. What a lineup of stars! (and NO kid rock, no rappers!) Tastefully Done!
