This is the first McMurtry album you should buy. It's got most of his classics performed perfectly. McMurtry's family literary humor shines through in "Choctaw Bingo" and "60 Acres", while his songwriting prowess is more clearly defined in "No More Buffalo" and "I'm not from here". Classic songs abound on this album. McMurtry covers Townes Van Zandt's beautiful "Rex's Blues", to close out an album filled to the brim with great live music, clocking in near 80 minutes. You really get your money's worth with this pick-up.

I got to see this amazing band twice in Kalamazoo Mich during the 70s. The first time I sat for 2 hours with my jaw on the floor, I had never witnessed anything like it and was so blown away that I had to be reminded to hit the joints being past to me. From that point on I was a Genesis devotee .. well ..at least up to the point where they seemed to sell out to top 40. This live album is maybe the best live album I have ever heard. It perfectly captures what it was like in sound to be at a Genesis concert and a must for any true music lover of any type.

Like most of his other live work "Before the Flood" lacks the light and shade of the studio albums - everything is at one volume (loud) and flatly sung. The performances of The Band, however, are excellent and give this album the lift it needs. If you want to hear a better Dylan live album then you might want consider "Hard Rain", which came out a few years later.

The music brought me back to when I was young , in the 1960s. What a great selection from their concert in Central Park! I wanted this disc because I saw "The 69th Street Bridge" song sung by Art Garfunkel on U-Tube. All the magic of this duo is here on this CD. Their voices are still "clear and young", not like the albums they put out later in their career. If you want a trip down memory lane, get this CD.

If you needed any proof other than Blood on the Tracks that Bob was going through a semi-artistic revival during 1975, this album should be your evidence. I wasn't around in 1975, but if I was, I would've definitely caught one of these shows, because this is an awesome album. Even with a few snippets everyone could do without (a reggae-country version of "It Ain't Me Babe," a synthtastic "Just Like a Woman," a sappy "Mama, You've Been on My Mind" and an even sappier "The Water is Wide"), it's still really, really good. In fact, it's my pick for Bob's best live album. It totally rocks, maybe even harder than the electric half of Live 1966 did. And he sounds angrier than he ever has. You thought he was upset on the studio take on "It's a Hard Rain's a-Gonna Fall" or ... Read More:

After watching the DVD I knew this is one of the best albums I've ever heard. In my rush for instant gratification I skipped the wait for a CD and downloaded the album. While the clarity itself isn't an issue, the files are full of skips and glitches. They aren't a RAM issue as they occur at the same place regardless of what other work my system is doing. I don't know if this is a file problem, a server problem or what, but if I could I would totally ask for my money back as it is basically impossible to listen without being distracted.
On the plus side, amazon's support center was ridiculously fast and helpful with getting me around my work's content filter...

Yes, it is a shame they found they needed to edit out some material. But if anything, they could of knocked out 'Tonights the night'... never did like that song and I always thought the track was a let down to the album ending. Otherwise a brilliant live compilation and recording. Actually always liked Neil Young but for some reason Live Rust was the only Neil Young album I ever bought, but probably among my 10 favorites and most listened to of all time.

Mr. B plays a mean guitar. This is a good effort, and he's progressed nicely since it's release. Some good stuff, buy it !

1. The music on the CD and the DVD is flat-out wonderful. Heavy, constant rotation on the in-home and in-car music systems. Can't get Romeo and Juliet out of my head. Boulder to Birmingham and Red Dirt Girl are stunning. Get a towel for If This is Goodbye (and note the commentary on this tune in the DVD interview).
2. The DVD is more problematic. Great interview segment with Knopfler and Harris. Well produced, good commentary, a cool production space that it was shot in. A mix of points of view, video and stills and a well mixed audio track make it interesting and entertaining.
But the concert video, now that's a different story. It's clear that the production was done with good gear, you can occasionally see some of it moving around in the background of a few shots. But ... Read More:
