I Think its a good album. I like all the songs but with one slight
disappointment, he sings the english version of Besame Mucho.

Upon hearing the original vinyl pressing, I wanted to have a copy to put my SACD player to use. I was very disappointed in the mastering of this SACD. THe recording levels were much too high, and there was no dynamic range to speak of. There were even times that I could notice distortion. THis was regardless of volume level or between the high end sony and toshiba players.
Go out and get the original vinyl, and made sure verve records didn't produce it.

Gato is still an excellent sax player, but the thrill is definitely gone, he's no longer anywhere near the cutting edge he existed on in the 60s and 70s. With the exception of The Third World Revisited, you can tell how good a Barbieri album is by the used price. Mass produced smooth stuff ends up in the delete bins fastest. His later stuff is good for a day or two, but doesn't stand up to repeated listening. Some of the latest stuff can't stand up to one hearing. The passion is missing.

I bought this as a treat for myself! And I must say...I absolutely loved it! Off and on I had heard their songs play on the radio, and one day i finally decided to buy an album of theirs. Mana's sound is very unique. I would consider it reggae rock with a wist of pop. On the album one can hear excellent guitar & drum solos. If I had to compare them to anyone else I would say: The Police, U2, and Journey. Yes, MANA is that good! Fher has awesome vocals, Sergio is great on guitar, and Alex 'El Animal' is probably one of the best drummer I have ever heard.

Yes, it's a great CD and DVD...and my expectations were fulfilled. I've seen Mana in concert twice and the DVD and music are great representations of the experience. Great delivery of the songs, too, and so it's well worth the money.
Didn't get five stars because, as another reviewer mentioned, just too much that's covered in En Vivo. And do we really need another live recording of "El Rey"? Yes, these are the songs you'd hear at the concert so I suppose that's the reason the selections were made, so I can cut the band some slack. Five stars would have been warranted if it had been double length with some more newer songs.

I first heard of the group Cold Blood on a compilation cd box set called What It Is! Funky Soul And Rare Grooves (1967-1977) on a song called "When I'm Kissing My Love." That song blew me away and I just had to find out more about this group.
That exploration led me to this cd COLD BLOOD/SISYPHUS and I'm not disappointed.
"Cold Blood" released in 1969 and Sisyphus in 1971, blended the elements of rock, soul, and gospel into a fiery sound that sounds as good today--as I'm sure it did back then.
The San Franscico Bay area group was fronted by singing dynamo Lydia Pense, who sounds a lot like Janis Joplin, and the icy hot blend of vocals and music makes me want to testify(scream and shout).

Some good music to listen to now that the nights are getting cold here. Two of my favorite songs are on this CD (Mambo No.5 and I Got a Girl) and most of the rest of the mix is to my taste. A couple are not, but that's why we got programmable CD players!

It was on Amazon's very helpful suggestion that I decided to give this dude a try. They probably figured I'd like his Latin-influenced sound on account of the fact that I'm known to be a huge fan of David Sánchez. The funny thing is, even though Miguel Zenón actually featured on a number of Sánchez's albums - albums that I own to boot - I would never have figured looking for his solo work on my own. I'm just not that sharp. Not anymore anyway. I put it down to old age.
Ahem. Anyhoo, Amazon were smack on the money; I absolutely love this. The album is produced by Branford Marsalis, which is always a good sign. Zenón, who plays alto saxophone, sounds endearingly playful, yet eminently competent. All the songs are his and a rhythm section comprised ... Read More:
