Included was a recording by Ella Mae Morse, "House Of Blue Lights" The classic boogie woogie piano style has long been an influence in my ever widening range of musical taste. I stumbled across this collection by accident looking for another title and the name rang out familiar but could not place it until I heard her sing again. She ... Read More:

I'm a product of Alan Freed's NYC WINS radio shows in the mid 50's and was surfing Amazon for a recording of Night Train he played almost every night. I came across this CD and although it really pre-dated my R&R days I decided it was worth a go. A wise choice - although Jimmy Forrest's Night Train is not the one I was seeking, the CD is super. Sax's at their best.

The Song Is You: Capitol Sings Jerome Kern is yet another solid installment in this CD series of "Capitol Sings." It's a shame that so many of these excellent CDs are out of print but maybe that will change soon. The sound quality is great and the artwork is very well done.
Keely Smith makes good on "The Song Is You;" Keely never sounded so good and she handle the tempo changes effortlessly like the pro she always was--and still remains! "All The Things You Are" is performed by the great Helen Forrest; Helen was a true songbird and just one listen proves it! The big band arrangement that accompanies Helen when she sings fits in perfectly with her vocals. "Pick Yourself Up" by Nat King Cole still sounds fresh and new--and that's OK by me! ... Read More:
