Yair Dalal exemplifies a rare mixture between conflicting trends in music: traditional versus modern, Eastern versus Western and Jewish versus Arabic. He also explores musical traditions of different countries like Iraq, Turkey and India, besides Jewish traditional music. Most of the pieces presented here are of charming beauty and very colourful and great instrumental arrangement.

Although Dalal is not as skillful in playing the violin as in musical composition, his taqsims on the Middle Eastern violin are very haunting. The Al Ol ensemble membres are very skillful players. The recording quality is not perfect, but it is not "bad" - as the previous reviewer sais - either.

This is CD is of very poor quality. It seems as if someone put a tape recorder in a synagogue and started recording. During all of the soft parts you can here people walking around, chairs moving, microphone tapping, and people coughing. One guy was hacking through an entire piece. It was very annoying and unenjoyable.

We are enjoying this album very much, it lists out the words in english as well. Even though it is in Hebrew, the songs are worshipful and moving.

Wow! This album was my introduction to some of the most beautiful soothing music I have ever heard. At bedtime I turn my CD player volume
on low and am lullibied to sleep.

Now I'm looking for another similar CD. I was able to use the "Listen"
format on this one before purchase which was so helpful for me since I was
unfamiliar with the musicians. Now, although, the CD does'nt have the
"listen" option, and I'll therefore just have to trust the personal reviews, I think I will order the jewish cello and piano by Richard Loch.

All I know is after listening to Chants Judif, I must have more.
