Im orginally from Austin, and he would play at this great little bar called The Velvet Spade, every Thursday small space but great sound! Whether there was 8 or 100 people there his shows were the same. Energetic fluid and just down right nasty groove. His band is tight and in form. I would recommend seeing him anytime you get a chance the cd's are good but, defintely don't do him justice. In my opinion he's a talent thats been kept under radar but, for us thats a good thing. Cause its hard to see truly great talent in these days without paying the price.

These guys are so damn good that it hurts. Their latin funk jazz rock rhythms leave you no choice but to get up and dance. I now live in Southern Oregon, and would do anything to hear them. I've been listening to them for more than ten years, and I'm reduced to having to buy their CD's.

That's not a knock on the CD mind you, but once you hear it, you'll be clamoring to go and seem the live. I can't imagine being disappointed listening to a Rubberneck album.

Most listeners who fell in love with the rock infused albums like "End of the World Party," "Uninvisible" and "Friday Afternoon in the Universe" will probably not enjoy Medeski Martin and Wood's (MMW) debut. I saw the band this morning on the CBS news show and dug it so I picked this up today. I was expecting to hear the tight grooves they were playing and instead was treated to a long-form hip hop jazz journey.

Took a second to get used to but damm cool, just ordered the live album from amazon, interested to hear the evolution.

Highly recommend remixed though.

This is a amazing band that has been able to capture & combine all types of diffrent style's and elements into their music from salsa,cumbias,reggae,funk,and many other beats. Their diversity of music has started a new generation of music and people. If your someone who likes a mixture of all types of sounds this is a good cd to buy. My favorite song on this cd is souldier because the lyrics speaks the the truth. Only buy if you can handle it...

This was the first album I bought of Galactic. I read an article about them in Bass Player Magazine, and they listed the Meters as one of their influences. I was not disappointed.

HAMPS HUMP is a great cover, different from the orginal but with a modern sound. Also QUIET PLEASE is 10 minutes of great jamming. I have heard many live versions of this song (as well as seen it performed a few times) and this CD version is the best.

All in all a quality buy if you like Booker T/Meters type music.
