I purchased this CD after listening to the samples posted on Amazon. Although the samples were played on my fidelity lacking laptop speakers, I thought the music sounded good so I took a chance and purchased it. This turned out to be a wise purchase as all but one (1) composition sounded good to me. In fact, I would described this as a phenominal effort. Nick sounds like a combination of Wes Montgomery, George Benson and Norman Brown. The music on this effort is fairly original sounding although some may mistake him for Norman Brown. The recording quality on this CD is excellant, too. This is one of those CDs you can put in your car and play repeatedly on a five or six hour drive. Even though I given this a Five Star rating, I know that not everyone has the capacity to like Satchmo. However, for those music lovers who love the blues, love classics, and love pioneers of great music, this is an awesome collection from a great artist.

The majority of adults that I know have heard "What a Wonderful World". Even if it was a remake version, it is a great song.

His duet with Bing Crosby, "Gone Fishin'", is one of my favorite summer songs.

Speaking of summer,"When it's Sleepytime Down South.', is a wonderfully relaxing addition as a live cut.

Classic versions of, "Ain't Misbehavin'", "Cabaret", and :Hello Dolly" add incredible excitement.

I am new to belly dancing, but not new to dance. This DVD makes a lot of sense; starting with build up the strength,great exercise stretching the muscles.Rachel Brice doesn't promise quick results, but mentions the necessity of consistent practice.And I see the exercises are great for me: they relax muscles when I am tired after computer work, or after driving on those horribly congested Southern Californian freeways. I would recommend this DVD not only to people who want to learn belly dancing, but also those who would like to add creativity to their daily stretches.I found the interview not too interesting, but the added bonus for me was Rachel Brice's performance, and what a dancing goddess is she!

I must warn you up front: tracks 2,10,11,15,16,17 and 18 are ALTERNATE TAKES, not the masters you are probably use to. And it is NOT advertised on the package! So if you know these songs by heart, you will either be pleased to have them or very annoyed. Just to warn you.

The transfers are fine but the song selection is missing a bunch of songs that I would consider essential to a "Very Best" collection of Benny's RCA period. It is just not one without "Don't Be That Way", "Loch Lomond", "Goodnight My Love", "Goodbye", "Down South Camp Meeting", "Changes" and "Body & Soul". I would say go with "Pure Gold" or "Sing, Sing, Sing" instead.

This excellent album contains eighteen songs that were popular during the WW2 years. The album starts with that well-known hit Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy (performed by The Andrews Sisters), and then moves between jazzy hits (such as G.I. Jive and Yours). I really enjoyed hearing again some of the songs that used to be so close to my father's heart, including Long Ago (And Far Away) and The White Cliffs of Dover.

I must say that I found this to be a very good album. I miss my GI father, who passed away a year ago, and I felt like I captured a little piece of him when I listened to the music he loved all those years ago. So, if you like that great Big Band sound, or want to get a glimpse into the world of WW2, then get this album. I highly recommend it!
